Hyundai new look all around

^ Your dumb.

I don’t know what colour I’d take one of these in. White? Black? Gun Metal? It’s soooo hard!

but the car SHOULD be de-badged…

Uhm… I’ll keep my money and wait 5 more years… R34 FTW!

I don’t care how well Hyundai is doing nowadays… I never had, and never will, have any respect for the cars they make. One of the red cars on page 1 has NISMO wheels on it… NISMO! At the same time, look at the side skirt design on the gray one with gray/bronze TE37’s… They’re first-gen R34 GT-R style side skirts… And it looks like a big rip of the G35 with a little Hyundai attempt at front-end uglyness… Its like the Tiburon… It looked like a fish/salamander-thing, then it looked somewhat like a miniature Supra, then it looked like a Mercury Cougar… If you pop the hood on any newer V6 Tiburon, the stupid plastic valve cover cowling has longitudinally oriented intake runners (fake plastic) to make it seem like the car is RWD at a first glance… Take the cowling off, and you realize its a still a FWD…

I have no respect for Hyundai. Call me ignorant, but thats just me. Nothing Hyundai has ever made ever impressed me. The Genesis coupe makes me cringe even more, since I love the G35 so much, yet now people are going to be mistaking G35’s and even the G37’s for an entry-level Genesis…

Like honestly, good job for them putting fourth the effort to become a more known automobile company, but if all their ideas are spawned for successful designs of cars STILL on the road today, where is their engineering team? They may have a small handful of engineers designing these cars, but they surely ran out of money to hire PROPER/TALENTED designers to actually design a car body that doesn’t look like something that came out from Nissan/Infinity or Toyota/Lexus 5 years ago…

EDIT AGAIN: Also, for that crashed Genesis being a test-mule. Test mule or not, why disable the air bags? I don’t care if its for a safety test or anything. If they’re going to do a non-deploying airbag test, do it in a closed facility with TEST dummies. We drive cars without airbags (S13 people), fine, so be it. But if I had an S14 with airbags, why the hell would you want to disable it? Fancy Nardi steering wheel? NO! I’d rather have piece of mind, as well as my mind being in one piece, rather than having a fancy steering wheel, but that’s besides the point. Why the hell would Hyundai be testing the car with non-working airbags (even if it is equipped), with live passengers and on a public roadway?

Smart idea? I think not…

/rant

the genesis is a rip off of a Mercedes front, BMW tails, two reasons why i hate Hyundai. they steal everyones idea and designs. and everyone that drives them can’t drive in general. Hyundai’s and Kia’s are the Lada of our time

hyundai has taken there shit to a ho nuva levo. im impressed

… but in the end its still a hyundai

that’s how North Americans used to think about honda, toyota and nissan

but things change

perceptions change

And no matter what you do to your 240…it’ll still be a 240.

used to? still do!!!

lol hyundai has been posting positive gains where every other company has been in the negative… but yeah its a hyundai… lol. I love when people say that - make a comment based on no research whatsoever… just like spd-dmn said… perceptions change…

Personally i dont give half a shit about who stole styling from who. Brand doesnt make a car good looking. I personally think the Saturn Sky is pretty hot… but everytime i say that i always hit the, “its a saturn” wall. Sure it is, but its still pretty fucking hot.

You have no idea how wrong you are with that last statement. I drive a Hyundai and the Wife drives a kia, and dollars to duckets they have been the most reliable vehicles we’ve owned. Beating out Nissans, toyotas, mazdas, GM’s and chrystlers that I’ve puchased in the past for the same approximate price. However, they are boring as fuck to drive.

Everyone rips everyone elses designs off. Look at ALL the midsize sedans to come from japanese companies. They are like re-badged carbon copies of eachother.

$24,450 for a Brand new turbocharged RWD coupe with a 5 year 100,000km warranty is an incredible price for such machinery. Remember, once upon a time people used to snub datsun/nissan, honda and toyota. Now the koreans are stepping up to the plate. They’ve already had awesome products here for years, such as samsung and LG electronics.

^ Like the Genesis Sedan ad says “It’s about time someone did to Lexus, what Lexus did to Mercedes”

The Japanese were the definition of stealing ideas and designs (and making them better), and look where they’re at now.

That’s the thing! Japanese borrowed ideas and refined them…

Hyundai borrows ideas and passes them on as its own, yet no refinement has been made…

I’ve got a buddy with a 2003 Tiburon. Comparing the build quality, fit and finish, as well as the durability of the parts on his car, I found that our S13’s, being almost 20 years old, gone through so-and-so number of owners, our abuse, etc. have a sturdier, as well as higher build quality, as well as an overall higher standard of quality. Hell, my dad’s Dodge Dakota has better build quality than the Tiburon. My dad bought it 2 or 3 years ago and its been perfect ever since (except for a power-window regulator incident during the winter, but then again, any manufacturer’s window motor or regulator will burn out if used on a frozen window/door).

My buddy had his Tiburon for not even a month and he’s already plagued with problems… You know how our cars/Civics rust at the rear 1/4 panels? Well his car is already rusting there… His passenger power door lock doesn’t work, the door handle (interior) feels like its about to come off, and the leather shift boot is more worn that the one on my S13 (1990 and 273k kms, never replaced)

Hyundai’s lead designer for the genesis/gen coupe got a better offer as designer at Mercedes and took it. Must be doing something right to get Mercedes to want him.

if you want “the wanna be” buy a hyundai or kia nuff said.
if you want the real thing they don’t buy the copy cat.
kia and hyundai are keep POS, and the people that buy them cannot drive worth a god damn.
buying a hyundai is like buying a Chinese motorcycle and calling it a Ducati!!! might look close, but it will never ever be the same.

i stoped by the hyundai dealer in hamilton on my way back from caledonia today and snapped a couple shots. this was just chillen outside and the dealer was closed today lol. there lucky my gf was so against it cuz i would of got right up on the roof for a pic if she would of agreed to take the pic… anyways heres some pics and the pricing of the v6 coupe
