I’ve narrowed my search down to two vehicles. I’m made a “soft” offer, but nothing official on the one. Just chit chatting with the current owner, via text.
Here’s my two options.
2011 STi Sedan - 17,000 miles - Lightning Red:
PROS:
Completely Stock - Comes with an extra set of rims and winter tires. Had a Cobb AP, but has since been reflashed and stock.
Car is stupid clean, the guy spends 8 hours a month detailing it. Car has every maintenance item done since it was new. Everything is recorded and the guy that is selling it is completely 110% stand up. I know it’s history.
It’s in Syracuse and close by. Seller has clean title in hand.
It’s NEVER seen a winter.
CONS:
It’s lightning red.
The big goofy wing is gone.
2nd Option:
2011 STi - Sedan - White - 10,000 miles
This is from a dealer. I have no idea what was done to it, who previously owned it or if it was modded at any point in time.
PROS: It’s white. The miles are lower and I have my wing.
Cons: It’s a mystery as to what it’s service history was or if it had a 35r strapped to it at some point.
I’m assuming it’s going to be ~$1,000 - $1,500 more. I would have to drop $800 on winter tires.
It’s 6 hours away. The dealer employees have probably been beating the shit out of it. It was owned for ~9,000 miles and then auctioned, meaning that it was probably a repo.
The windows are tinted and it has an aftermarket nav system (i’m scared of installations like this).
Both cars obviously still have warranty. Both cars are stock/appear stock.
Help.

I bought my first STi from a dealer and I had to spend $1,500 getting it right with all the boost leaks, and straightening it up, not to mention the shitty tune that was on it and it had an aftermarket radio at some point, so none of my steering wheel controls worked. Just little stuff that cost a lot to make right.
