if your beloved fwd loses traction with the front wheels, you’re fucked. At least with a rwd car you can steer with the gas if you have to. :moon:

rwd>fwd period, end of story

rwd drivetrain loss > fwd loss

cost- you get what u pay for …junk
weight- that not gonna be too important when you wreck
gas milage- matters how one drives not necessarily the car
packaging- not sure what you mean
space- are you joking, i could fit some FWD cars in my trunk
traction in the snow- well if you suck at teh driving i guess you need FWD to make you feel good about urself. its all about the TIRES!

If i was wrong, nobody would make it. They make for all the reason i stated. RWD is much better for racing applications hands down.

RWD isnt bad in the snow if you are aa ag gressive skilled driver(alot of this board), but for the masses it sucks.

BTW you steer with the gas in any car. When i lift the car rotates when gas it,it pushes. A steering wheel presents a direction change, what you do with gas/brake make it happen. This goes for driving at the limit(or near) in any conditions(dry,wet,ice snow whatever)

bull shit. if you’re flying down the highway and you jerk the wheel, your hitting the barrier.
maybe you are talking about something your autoX training tought you, but people on the road steer with the wheel.

GrassRoots did an article about this… RWD, vs. FWD, vs. AWD.
3 cars were… WRX, RSX typeS, BMW 330i
all with same tires & did both wet & dry auto X’ing
5 runs in each conditon with each car.

everytime…they came in this order
WRX, RSX, BMW

of course type of car makes a difference but these are 3 that are decent to compare.

I’m not saying one is better then the other…they all have advantages & disadvantages.

comments:
WRX…easier to drive @ limits
RSX…most fun to drive
BMW…felt the quickest…but times didn’t show it.

you are right that if someones turns the wheel they will hit the barrier. But they are not at the limit of their tire.You are MOTO today.

I said driving at the limit, not driving down the freeway and sneezing, reaching for the Cell Phone, or gettign road head.

yup, if your at the limit and you try for too much steering input what happens? does your car steer?
