i need an intake made. any suggestions?

it needs to be about 1’ long, no bends, just a straight piece. 2.5" on one end, and 3" on the other end if thats possible (would like it to fit the stock intake elbow and a k&n i have laying around…) … also somewhere along it i need a bung welded to fit a 3/8" intake air temp sensor.

i would like it to be made out of aluminum or other lightweight metal, i dont know much about this stuff so any help is appreciated.

thanks!

oh ps i tried mufflerman and they cant do it.

I heard about this one fucktard who made an intake out of PVC. I guess it worked fine as long as you don’t care what it looks like.

:mamoru:

pvc and spray paint silver…BAM Aluminum

lol. i’d like to see someone try to weld a bung onto pvc

why make it out of aluminum? chances are that the weight savings vs. steel will just be offset by trash on the passenger floor. This would be REALLY easy to make out of mild steel…

jb weld is your friend  My IAT sensor is jb welded into my intake.

ok, mild steel than. like i said before, i dont know much about thiese things. and lol on the trash comment

is it 3/8 NPT?

yes it is ^

The cheapest and easiest way would be to take a piece of 3" 16ga tubing

then this:

(since it’s not a boosted application, you could probably get away with a 5 dollar one from pep boys/ebay)

then a short piece of 2.5 16ga tube.

if you really want to have a conical METAL stepdown, then it gets slightly more difficult. (though not terribly…)

easy if you buy this:

get me the stuff and i’ll weld it.

i can probably get the bung from the scrap bin at work.

<3 newman

im gonna go to metal supermarket first and see what they have before i get anything off the interwebz

make sure that the intake elbow on the BMW is actually 2.5 before you go.

don barton might have a bunch of scrap.

are you converting to speed density?

why not just use the step-down coupler directly on the throttle body with some 3" mild steel tubing?

you trying to go MAF

megasquirt. the wirings ~90% done, just need to finish some things up

and it is, i measured it.

because on BMW he has a ~2.5" female rubber boot he needs to fit in to.

1 or 2?

gotcha

its a v3.0 board, im no good at this shit so i paid someone to do it for me…

kind of neat. the sodering work is super clean. extremely impressed with this guys work

he sets it up and tunes it on his e30 before he ships it out. so, essentally i should be able to do the same. but i purchased a wideband, will need to fab some shit (tps, iats) and i need an afpr as well.
