Pics of maybe my ne intake

the guy is in the process of building these and wont have one done for me until late may but what do u guys think?

interesting

looks crazy

nice

looks nice…flat plates cut to patten of heads some oval tubeing and some flat metal for the triangle…

be fun to try and make yourself…

will the rear fit with out cutting??

is the windshield gettin cut??

that is badass

:wackit:

The guy making it says it will fit under the windshield and will clear a stock hood. it would be nice to make it urself if u have the right tools but this is something that is time consuming.

The only beef i’d have with it is some kinda air diverters inside there… maybe something like an upside down V shape between the runners on the lower part to help smooth the airflow and even out the charge.

I know and Im also worried about the heat issues. I mean everyone knows the plastic intakes are better because of heat but no one makes anthing for my style heads just yet. I know guys have been running intakes like these and still putting down good numbers so if nothing comes out soon Im stuck with it.

What kind of heat issues?

that intake will take in more heat then a plastic one.

So it’s not a warpage problem, it’s a problem with heating up the air coming in?

Weld on a series of half tubing paths all over the surface of it and run water/coolant through it from an intercooler. How much could that cost to do?

I was just thinking about something like that. Tune port Vettes do something simliar to that, in that they run coolant up near and around the intake. I would run a seperate system though. My celica alltrac has its own seperate system for the water to air cooler. You could take the pump and all the parts from that and make an intake cooler :blue:

The thing you do unfortunatly to help counter heat soak is make it out of thin material. That material looks addiquate there, but i’ve seen some “sheet metal” intakes that probably flexed at WOT!

I was kind of joking about the cost - thought it would be a good bit.

I wonder if there would be any thermal stress issues at the welds with the cold water on a hot intake. I guess there’s not a huge temperature difference though. We had a pressure vessel with spiral cooling tubes and it just wanted to tear itself apart because of the thermal gradient.

I think Sam should build one and patent it.

sick looking, hopefully it will perform as good as it looks
