well last summer i picked up one piece projector headlamps for my car. right now im kind of sick of how horrible the light is. Since I dont know much about the HIDs and what not. can someone point me in the right direction as to if i could fit some kind of kit into my headlamps now ?
yea
OEM HID Projectors with OEM Bulbs and OEM Ballast is the best or
OEM HID Projectors with OEM D2S Bulbs and Aftermarket Ballast is better
OEM HID Prokectors with Aftermarket 4300k bulb with Aftermarket ballast is good
Some OEM Halogen Projector [MDX Projectors is example] with OEM/Aftermarket HID Bulbs is ok
Aftermarket Projectors in Aftermarket headlights with any hid bulbs = NOT SO OK.
Dont put plug and play in your projector headlights this will create terrible beam
Take out Halogen proejctor retro in some oem hid projector and Bam! u got some good stuff.
I have experience with name brand HIDs and non name brand HIDs.
the non name brand were about 1/3 of the price, but i had problems with them in the cold, and eventually one shit out entirely.
get a name brand kit.
I am glad that you are putting them in AT LEAST in projector housings… though OEM HID projectors will do you better in the long run.
You will have to see what kind of bulb it takes, and get THAT KIND of retrofit kit.
Xenondepot.com has kits that use name brand components.
I have a spare pair of OEM S4 housings, with clear corners.
Retro or dont do it.
Like Newman said go with a name brand kit. I had a non name brand kit and one of them shit the bed within 6 months. There was a warranty but its still a hassle.
best bet.
teh DEPO 1 piece ones on ebay are nice and cheap and had a very nice cutoff
what is a name brand HID? I have after market projectors in my MK4 jetta and always miss the EVO’s HID when im in it… wouldn’t mind picking up a H1 kit as thats the bulb in the after market projector…
I have had no issues with the Mcculloch kits I have owned and they are fairly inexpensive. Approx $225-250

If you have an A4 I used:
-Depot 2-piece projectors
-Audi A6 HID kit which includes OEM Hella ballast, OEM Philips/OSRAM D2S 4300K bulbs, H7 adaptors
Granted this was about 4 years ago
Mcculloch (sp?) are good kits. I had one ballast go bad but I think that was because of placement and it got soaked in water. They still warrantied it. I’ve heard people have good experience with www.hid-sin.com
