Personally, for a nice DD and really economical, I’d get a 5 speed TDI Jetta/Golf. If you wanted to mod it, throw a tuner, injector nozzles, and some nice suspension and wheels.

just a dependable car for a daily driver really. I never had any desire to mod my Elantra and it was a very dependable car.

Both the Sonata and Fusion get good ratings and seem to be good cars.
