Ilya's 2007 Infiniti M35x

Nice pickup, start with the drop =] And the aero kit would look dope.

Umm Mark? Or the guy he talked to? I got it for 30.5k which is like 1.5k out the door with taxes, etc. less than what Edmunds says people typically pay. So I guess I made out okay.

Yeah it wasn’t standard. You had to get the correct package. It’s all good, this allows me to go 55w instead of 35w (gonna change the low beam to 55w).

Thanks. Drop is a remote possibility. I like the car as it is now. I’d settle for just strut bars if they made em, but I can’t find any.

So now you’ve had this car for a few months, how do you like it??? I’m looking into something a little more upscale from my impreza. How is the power in a car this size?? and what kind of mpgs are you getting?? I love these cars and the sharp interiors.

I didn’t get my hands on the deal before he walked in the door, so my guy at Nissan couldn’t do anything besides put in a good word. It was a little bad timing that’s all.

Car is looking great.

This car is badass, I wouldnt drop it. Unless youre planning on doing wheels, then a small drop might be in order. Id be worried about messing up the ride quality.

Forgot I had this thread lol.

I love this car. Nothing but good things to say about it. And now that I installed the little Grom Audio device that allows me to listen to music off an iPod, USB Drive, or using a 3.5mm stereo cable? Awesome. That was my biggest thing with this car when I got it (having to burn CD’s constantly) because I didn’t get that package, but now I have no issues.

As for the power, it’s plenty. This car can definitely get out of its own way, especially on the highway. Manual mode is a blast.

I’m getting about 18.8mpgs according to my onboard computer (mixed driving and somewhat aggressive driving), but too put it more factually…I can get 300miles out of a tank on my everyday driving. If I do all highway, I can squeeze out 350 or so. No different than my Maxima. The brochure says this car takes 20gallons of gas, but I have yet to get over 17 and I’ve been pretty damn close to empty. So really, I’m getting the same mileage I got on my Maxima. I’ll have to actually compute it one of these days.

It’s a little noisy on the road, but I think that’s cause I have crappy ass tires. Once I finally put on tires that I buy, I’m sure it’ll be great (Continental ExtremeContact DWS).

Yeah it happens. No biggie. I appreciate you guys trying to get me a deal.

I keep going back and forth with this. I want some nice rims (say 20x9 EXE Konvex’s) but I also am considering the stock 19" Sports. Being this is AWD and a little higher than the sport model, I may need a drop either way. However, I made a suspension review thread on the M forum and everyone is saying that the ride didn’t get that much worse. We’ll see. It’s gonna be next summer before I get wheels anyway.

Just googled them (normally not a good sign for a wheel whore like myself to not have even heard of the brand…) and they’re hideous. Please don’t ever mention them and an Infiniti M35x in the same sentence for the rest of your life.

Get the M56 wheels, they’d look money:

You’re on crack dude. They look sick! :lol

Here is a comparison:

M with EXE’s:

http://img844.imageshack.us/img844/1063/dscf0619t.jpg

M with M56’s (this M has the front bumper conversion which I plan to do):

http://img838.imageshack.us/img838/1815/40020011541large.jpg

Both look sick IMO.

I would go M56. Those other wheels have a nice lip but the spoke pattern is cheesy looking.

PLEASE do the M56. The other wheels are straight up horrible looking.

:rofl

We’ll see. Rims are next spring, so I got time to find what I like. I just REALLY hope I won’t have to drop the car if I go 19" (06-07 M-Sports) or 20" (M56).

why would anyone hope that :Idiots

Glad you like the car, those mpg numbers aren’t bad either!

Cause this ain’t some cheap ass Maxima which has a rough ride whether you drop it or not. If I can achieve the look I want without having much wheel gap and therefor not necessitating a drop, you bet your bottom dollar this car ain’t getting dropped. Yes it would handle better, but for the size this car is and for the crappy tires I have on it right now, it handles pretty well. Surprised me at least.

They aren’t too bad, but I would have liked at least 20mpg mixed driving.

i really like this car! and i think the EXE wheels would look good all black.

I’m not a fan of that style. I honestly can’t stand all black or all white cars (body painted wheels). Not my thing at all. Silver/bright wheels for me only.

i ment the white car

Oh. Hah. I guess that would look okay, but I think his car is beautiful the way it is. I love how he painted the diffuser black and vinyl’ed the roof.

yea i agree looks tiighhtt

Bumping this up. Since my going back and forth on some of the things above…the following has been done:

1) Installed 19x8.5 +45 BE by Breyton GTS-AV Hyper Silver wheels

http://www.ilyakol.com/M35/Photoshoots/12-11-11/Resized/1.jpg

2) Motordyne 5/16" Copper ISO Thermal Plenum/TB Spacer kit

3) Z-Tube (intake from the G35/350Z): Not my car shown, but same thing:

4) Got my car tuned with UpRev. Butt dyno doesn’t make me feel much, but the tune is pretty nifty. If I hold cruise/set and hit cancel a particular number of times (corresponds with the numbers below) it will set it to that tune.

Tune for: 93 Octane

Desired Idle RPM: 750-800rpm

Map 1: Stock; Stock Rev Limiter, Stock Speed Limiter

Map 2: Tuned Map/Sport; Stock + 300 RPM Rev Limiter; No Speed Limiter; 2 degree timing advance; WOT at all speeds

Map 3: Economy; Stock + 300 RPM Rev Limiter; No Speed Limiter; best MPG tune as possible

Map 4: Valet; 2,500 rpm Rev Limiter, 30 mph speed limiter

Now I just need to go see Morgan at Synapse and get a dyno from it for S&G’s.

5) Purchased Espelir drop springs which are the only springs designed for the AWD M-series. They give about a 1.5" drop after settling. They are sitting in my office at work, however, they won’t be getting installed for a while because I think I’m going to get some aftermarket struts and do the whole install all at once as I have 85kmi on my stock struts and I don’t feel like having to go through this again in say 20kmi. Should look something like this:

Other things I’m considering doing eventually:

Evidently, my car was in a slight fender bender that wasn’t on the carfax (and Lia obviously didn’t disclose) as the left front side was painted. Well, whoever painted it sucks at it because the clear coat is chipping and it looks like I drove behind a dump truck for 2 hours :lol. I may just get that re-sprayed by my best friend or I might go all out and change up the front end of the car:

1a) Aero lip kit

http://i53.tinypic.com/2w4d3er.jpg

or

1b) 2008+ Sport Bumper

2) Definitely the 08+ Grill. The stock grill looks like this:

http://image.internetautoguide.com/f/2006_infiniti_m35/40664868+ppromo_iag_large/grill-front-view.jpg

08+ Grill:

http://image.automotive.com/f/2008_infiniti_m35/40693197+w500/grill-front-view.jpg

So, if I did the aero kit and the grill, the car would look something like this:

http://i51.tinypic.com/346t4wh.jpg

If I did the 08+ sport bumper and the grill, the car would look something like this:

And finally, possibly a trunk spoiler:

Eventually when my exhaust rusts out thanks to our wonderful climate, I will get that replaced as well from the cats back. And then re-tuned. That’s probably another year or so out.
