If there was an sti for 18k with under 50k I would have bought it by now. lol
swap a honda
EEK yea 8k another vote for the white WRX.
UGH No one should be modding a car with a budget of 8K, just buy a car an fucking drive it.
Edit: HAHA Missed this one. Nice work Mr Fry.
8k is a GOOD budget for the intial purchase
you guys are acting like he is going to buy the car then try to spend another 20k in mods.
He could get a WRX for 8K, then spend another 2-3k in aftermarket parts, and have a nicely modded DD that will be just as reliable. Adding exhaust/intake/tune/springs and shocks/wheels are not gonna demolish the reliability of the car, nor are they going to cost him a shit load of money to do.
Does he seem like the kind of kid who wouldn’t fuck it up? :roflpicard:
But why spend the 2-3K its isnt like that money is disposable income for him, at age 18 there are far better places that cash should be going then modding a pre owned car.
I don’t make that kind of assumption. I will say this though, these are basic parts to install so it should be do-able with a small amount of wrench time under his belt. If not, there are plenty of shops in the area that specialize in installing these types of parts.
How much money have you spent on your photography hobby in the past year or two? Get off the high horse, you sound like an idiot.
I am done defending you noob, just gonna finish watching the hate train tear you a new one.
I’ve got a 2003 WRX wagon with 66k miles on it. 10k and it is yours and it is yours
Faster, cheaper, and more reliable.
But I’m sure he’ll buy an import because they are hotter.
Elesjuan.
my bad, for some reason i thought you were like, older… idk why.
i’m talking someone in their late 20’s early 30’s ig uess
DSMs are just as reliable as the next car.
Only problem is the newest one is already ten years old. Any 10 year old car is going to have it’s fair share of problems.
Do what the one person said. Spend 10K on something reliable and don’t mess with it. Then spend 5K on a toy if you must.
And to answer your question about which is the better base, 2nd Gen > 3rd gen any day of the week.
:picard:
who wants to nominate the whole thread for worst post of the month?
Why do some of the guys on here love to make fun of the new guy. So I may not have much knowledge as some of you. You must feel sweet aboult making fun of someone over the internet dont you? To the guys that help me thank you for your time and advice!
Buy a nice reliable honda prelude with an automatic transmission… AND HEEL TOE THE PISS OUT OF IT!
… sorry, I had to… And i’m not making fun of you, I’m making fun of something I said a decade ago when I joined this community.
Seriously, good luck in whatever you choose
Are preludes good cars? I have seen a couple really nice ones
This is what I did.
Actually I think it was more like 5800 or so, but I had about 3/4 of it in cash saved up from working and not having to pay bills and such.
Insurance was 224/month, was a '99 that had a KBB around 6.5k I think.
I really WANTED a new car, I wanted it so badly.
That way I could have a reliable DD, with a warranty if something breaks, so when I’m at school I don’t have to worry about bills of repairing, etc…
But I didn’t get one.
This route, thinking back on it 3 years later was so much better imo.
Yeah, my car did depreciate down to ~2.2-2.5k, but that’s not nearly as bad considering if you buy a car at 20k like I wanted to, it drops to 12-13k off the lot… mhmmm… then another 3-4k over the 3 years.
Anywayyy, rambling aside.
Buy a decent reliable DD.
5k is a good price range.
Don’t get some cheapass old broken down beater thats going to nickle and dime you every weekend.
But don’t go overboard.
You don’t need fancy navigation features or leather interiors, you need to get from point A to point B, and point C sometimes.
Get it all paid off, get everything else paid off, then start saving up for a house/better car.
That way you don’t end up with huge debt, barely paying off the interest.
Years down the road it will make sense…
Just look at all the tards on here that bought 20-30k cars right out of school that are selling them for thoulsands less than what they owe because they realize they can’t afford them.
can i just state that im 16 and your 18? if i were you i would do what im doing now, focusing on school, its how im graduation this year and hope to have a degree and fulltime job by the time im 21.
What does it matter that you are 16? What do I care how old you are? Im doing very well in school and I come from a good family they are paying for my college. some guys might give me shit for that but I no that I am lucky.
