I'm Sick tired of being F'D with on Inspection

I just had my mechanic fix several things for inspection, but he can’t sticker my car.

I took it down to Delta Sonic for inspection, because I can watch them do the work at least. They failed it because the E-Brake didn’t work

Took it back to mechanic and had the E-Brake fixed. Now holds the car in Drive.

Took it back to Delta Sonic to have it rechecked (no cost) and they Failed it again! Said that it’s supposed to hold the car with “Moderate” power (gas) and that it’s not supposed to go all the way down (pedal) WTF is moderate power with a Supercharged V6??? 2,000RPM? 4,000… 6,000RPM!?

WTF :jays:

I can either have it readjusted tomorrow by the mechanic (20min drive both ways) or take it to a new garage and spend $22 more and pray they don’t #*!)! with me and “FIND” something new to fail me on.

Or you could just adjust it yourself?

suggestion, go to a shop and tell them about the brake BEFORE letting them touch the car to see if they’ll let you slide.

WTF lurker?

Find a new mechanic?

yea shops r getting bad like this in the area i hate when people do this…but good luck and keep us informed

my ebrake doesnt even work and i pass inspection lolz

but when i had my gp inspected (floor brake pedal) they made me get it fixed. they didnt fail me because of it, but i needed new front brakes so they just fixed it while they were doing it

scruggs auto on transit, talk to jeff he owns it, he is a great guy!

I installed new cables for this car as the holders were snapped. In order to satisfy the requirements (as it is inspector discretion) of the inspector I am planning on adjusting the ebrake a little tighter for him so that they will not hassle him. It should automatically adjust but it takes about 25-30 applications of the ebrake to get it to adjust even a little.

Prior to this the Ebrake did not engage at all. A little more tension and the car will satisfy the inspectors requirements.

The E brake was not on the original list of complaints.

lol @ some inspectors, but the law is the law.

i bet the were just busted for allowing something to pass that shouldnt. but then again some shops are pricks.

those kind of shops arent meant for nyspeeders, they are meant for ppl who own a vehicle just to own a vehicle aka the general public.

if you work on your car etc you HAVE to ‘know’ someone at every step of the process: parts, inspection, alignments, tires, etc.

i’m not THAT bad when it comes to parking brakes, but i can sure understand his frustration when it wasn’t originally failed for the parking brake and then he had to come back a second time.

Pm’d

who takes a car to delta sonic for inspection?

I mean seriously…

I first took it to Erin & Bills. They said it just needed a wheel bearing and Bushing.

Took it to carnut and he did that work.

(I didn’t want to take it back to Erin & Bill since I got the work done else where)

Took to Delta Sonic and they failed the Ebrake

Took to Carnut and got it fixed.

Failed again because it’s not holding enough… assholes.

I know how you feel because the same thing happened with my truck. I thought it was good enough based on my test, they said it failed. I adjust it so it will lock the rear tires of my heavy SUV at 10 mph and they say it still just barely passes. :picard:

I checked the dmv website, and all i could find is this:
Parking brake - check for components and function

I couldnt find the book we used while at alfred that had the requirements. So I asked a question on the dmv website, lets see what they respond with. probably will take a few days

1st mistake

:picard: Delta.
