^ HA. Honestly, I don’t think she would mind. She keeps telling me to work on my Car and stop fixing everyones elses. LOL.
Sorry, read this as 3/4" and thought “Fuck me…” I can get 1/2 hardline relatively cheap and planned on that.

Nice! Mine keeps telling me it’s OK to spend $$ to resurrect the Bird!
Justin has one of those guns in his shop. He bought it when he first opened. It is a beast. mainly because it has a HI/LO gearbox in it and when it is in low it has major power. I have a IR 1/2 and a snapon 3/8. most of the time the snapon 3/8 will take off lugnuts and I love it for its maneuverability when wrenching.
I like cordless impacts for smaller stuff. 8mm-14mm anything larger and I prefer air powered. It is nice working in a driveway just to grab it and go but I have air at my house and at the shops I help out at so I guess I am spoiled. For a DIYer I think the heavy duty electric stuff probably has enough power to get the job done if you buy quality.
I have a dewalt 18v 1/2 impact which will pretty much do anything you need it to minus lugnuts. i also have an air one if i need it/the battery dies… the electric is significantly heavier. i use the electric because i can travel with it as saxon said. if you can’t get it off with the electric one then you probably need some monster gun , or just a standard breaker bar lol.
So the real question is…
Can a Chorded Electric Impact take off an Axle nut or Crank Bolt? I don’t want to pay $20 to take off my crank bolt each time.
Mike - What is your Aircat rated to for MAX Torque?

Description
The NitroCat 1200-K is a no non-sense, hard hitting ½ impact wrench that outperforms anything in its class! Used by many NHRA Top Fuel Race teams. All the Power, Half the Noise!
The Twin Clutch design uses a hammer fixed directly onto the input shaft, with a pair of pins acting as clutches. When the hammer rotates past the anvil, a ball ramp pushes the pins outwards against a spring, extending them to where they will hit the anvil and deliver the impact, then release and spring back into the hammer, usually by having the balls “fall off” the other side of the ramp at the instant the hammer hits. Since the ramp need only have one peak around the shaft, and the engagement of the hammer with the anvil is not based on a number of teeth between them, this design allows the hammer to accelerate for a full revolution before contacting the anvil, giving it more time to accelerate and delivering a stronger impact.
The AIRCAT tool line has a substantially reduced level of noise while retaining more power and torque. Our tools have been tested & shown to operate at 82-86 dBa (decibels), far below the OSHA guidelines. This feature benefits not only the mechanic but also the overall business. The patented tuned exhaust muffler technology, in all the tools, allows discharged air to pass without developing back pressure, thus retaining more power, while significantly reducing noise. AIRCAT has innovated through-the-handle exhaust design, which incorporates its revolutionary worldwide patented internal muffler/filter. The benefits include reduced hazards from breathing exhausted air particulates, the elimination of blow-by into the operators eyes and lungs as well as reduce noise. AIRCAT also incorporates a patented ergonomically engineered handle design to relieve stress and fatigue on the operators hands, wrists and arms. The patented AIRCAT handle offers better overall distribution of weight for a balanced tool and provides a unique grip that makes it easier to use for prolonged periods of time. How are the HF Air Impacts for everyday use? I’m looking for a decent Impact gun that isn’t too expensive.
Yeah work filter, I have the same one.
I figured… Just took me a second. I used to work where Luke does and I forgot about the filter they have there, used to the Moog filter now.
For a reasonable 1/2" pneumatic I’ve found the IR titanium to be a good gun.
I’m looking at getting a Bosch 18v high torque impact. I already have 2 batteries and a charger that work for this so I’d just need the bare tool. Not sure if I’d be better off just going with a used snap on though.
buy a air cat. This is a tool you will have for a long time there is no sense in buying one that will not get the job done.
edit: they are pretty cheap also
