Actually, that form says:
A

Gift from a parent, child, stepparent, stepchild, or spouse - I received this motor vehicle as a gift from my ( check one - you may be asked to supply proof of relationship): parent child stepparent stepchild spouse

So I’m not 100% sure you’re going to get away tax free using a gift. This is a gift from a grandparent, and there is no “grandparent” checkbox.
I’ve used the super lowball receipt before. When they asked why it was so low I said the car had a blown motor and I replaced it. I had the seller put that on the receipt as well.
Facts not BS FTW
Now find the form I need to buy a car in PA from a dealer and get the sales tax I have to pay in PA refunded. I’ve been looking for that for 2 days.
Yeah, but unfortunately that list of “if NYS and the other state have an agreement about sales tax” is pretty short. I especially like that fact that 1/2 of the states on the list are at least 1000 miles from here, and one of them is Hawaii.

Full List:
Arizona
California
Florida
Hawaii
Massachusetts
Michigan
South Carolina
Wyoming

The states people would be likely to buy a car from while living in NY (VT, PA, OH, NJ) have no reciprocal agreement with NY, which means form 804 does not apply. Basically you are on your own trying to get a refund issues from the state you purchased the car in.
sunfire front + molded evil eyelids = bad ass…i really dont think id ever do it tho
