Had the previous version of the one above and loved it.

                         Any opinions/experiences/recommendations all are welcome.

Priorities are - all year jacket that has plenty of vents to open and close and has a liner for the really cold days. The old Cortech that Dave has now served me wonderfully in that, especially for the price.

Some of those win in style points for what they lose in functionality as well.

I just bought http://stores.sportbiketrackgear.com/images/InitialSet/scorpion_stinger_phantom400.jpg

Perf leather, I have only had a chance to ride in it like twice though. Compared to my non perf leather jacket though it has very good air flow as well as a fully removable liner.

I’ve had good luck with all the scorpion stuff I have bought so far. Here is the link to their textiles if you wanna take a look. Doesn’t look like you narrowed it down enough yet :lol.

I ordered a new mesh jacket, received it yesterday

Really nice jacket and an excellent price.

Should have clarified.

Staying the hell away from mesh, and I already have my leather suit and separate leather jacket, I will upgrade that later on. Leather doesn’t make a good all year gear, especially perforated leather as it’s typically made to make sure you stay as cool as possible and doesn’t carry many air pockets/vents.

Edit: I’ve personally had good experience with Shift and Cortech/Tourmaster so far in jackets.

Now gloves is a whole another story.

Vlad you should get something really bright so dumbasses don’t hit you

Doesn’t help, many physically see you but mentally don’t.

Choose the one that actually came with a CE back protector, unless you plan on wearing the forcefield all the time.

Personally I love my mesh jacket and I can’t imagine riding without it last year.

None of these have a CE back protector included. Cortech/TM have “triple density” protector of sorts and typically have a pocket for you to insert a protector after.

Wouldn’t have taken you for a mesh kinda guy actually :ponder

I’m just sick of using leather jacket on the daily duties.

Try look into fieldsheer jackets, I think they all came with CE back like the one I have. My mesh came with CE elbow & shoulder and I put the CE back from my 1pc in that jacket.

IDK man, my buddy here wears BRIGHT green, cant miss it

I rocked my A-Star leather in 90deg weather… once your moving, I unzip it a lil and open the shoulder vents. If you arc your back slightly one way I found the air would flow over your dome, down your back and out just above your ass crack… felt nice n cool.

and saved my skins when I wiped out! Leather + pavement > textile + pavement IMO.

VERY TRUE

but I chance it just because I like to be more comfortable while riding, thats why I like mesh jackets, still has all the padding but its very breathable in 90+ weather and I use my bike for commuting to work and there are quite a few lights no matter what way I go.

Vlad why are you totally against mesh but you will get textile?

mesh is a nylon, which when it takes a skid across 36 grit pavement will burn through very quick, and actually melt into your road rash!

textile is a kevlar or other ballistics grade material, which can take a decent skid across the ground, for a few seconds. Few seconds being the key word, something like xxmph rated to not burn through.

if your keeping it under 65 or slower stop n go city shit, textile is plenty to keep your skinsorz intact.

Twisty riding, or pushing it above 65mph… sweat your balls off in leather, thank me later when all you have is a cast on your broken bones… not a skin graft and half an ass cheek left in addition to! (thats where they take the skin from for said graft)

Yea thats why I wanted to know why Vlad picked textile over mesh, I know he rides on highways at some point and textile wont hold up to a highway crash.

I’ve been down in textile and it’s essentially a one time shot deal (although Singh has been riding in that jacket for a few years now ripped up in a shoulder).

I’m against mesh for the reasons KK said, plus it just doesn’t feel right, just like short cuff gloves. If I’m spending my money on gear I might as well buy gear that protects well IE - full gauntlet gloves and at least textile, but I still love my leathers (suit or jacket).

No doubt leather offers the best protection, but if you ride with a $400 dollar leather jacket but with a pair of jeans from gap and tennis shoes, that kind of defeats the purpose. It is not just you upper body that needs the protection.

Better gear will always provide better protection. The thing is it is not how good that 1 piece of gear you have, it is also how good the rest of our gears are.

Ideally we should all be riding with leather jackets and leather pants all the time.

Forcefield has back protectors without belts/straps available for about a $100 so you can put them in the jacket pocket made for it. Makes me wish I bought one.
As far as mesh vs leather vs textile I cheated and bought Shift Hybrid which is a textile with leather panels around lower arms, shoulders, chest and back. Wore it with no issue all season into the near freezing temps.

It’s not on your list, but I recently bought the Alpinestars Sniper AirFlo mesh/textile jacket and it feels like a very rugged beast of a mesh jacket, and the quality is top notch. It is considered a mesh jacket but the “mesh” isn’t that cheap stuff that looks like it’ll rip the second it touches the ground, it is thick and strong but perforated. It also uses hard armor protection.
