indy at the glen

anyone going?

the wife and i are thinking about taking the camper up there for the weekend.

I am planning to go up on Sunday only. Have my niece’s b-day party on Saturday in Rochester, so I think I’ll go straight from there on Sunday, unless things get juggled around.

you have a camper?

you have a wife?

I was in that area on Sunday for a concert at Glenora Wine Cellars and got some great pics at the gas station. they all just finished racing at the glen…

the red car is a 2001 Z06. I talked to the guy for a bit.
his engine is autographed by a whole bunch of 24 hour racers.

and no its not my wife, i just call her that. shes really just my sister :redneck:

In the town of watkins Glen you’ll fit right in.

thats usualy only on NexTel NeckCar weekend. where the sister lovin comes in.

lol theres a superbird in the pic and you’re pointing out a z06?

I’m debating going to the INDY race in two weeks at the Glen. I know its a royal pain in the ass trying to get in and out of that place on that 1 lane road. Anyone been for big races give me an idea of how much time I’m looking at sitting in traffic, etc. Thanks.

might be goin…friend of mine is he said i can go…like 50 bux for tickets for the weekend

no offence, but that didnt really help me…

I was at the Bud @ the Glen in '91. We didn’t even try to leave right away. We just kinda hung out and chilled for like 2 hrs after so the line wasn’t as long. You’re looking at a good amount of time.

ive been to the glen 4 times in the past 3 years. for the bud/nextel and all the rolex races. getting out after the race is easy. they close the whole road and make it 3 lanes wide heading back to the highway.

If you are going to the track you will sit in traffic. Because this is the IRLs first event at the Glen, and the first sanctioned non-vintage open wheel event since forever, there will be a decent crowd. Maybe not as big as NASCAR weekend, but possibly comparable.

Going to see the event live is worth sitting in traffic. There is no way to calculate how much time you will spend sitting in traffic. Usually when exiting the track they open up the other access points besides the main gate to help alleviate traffic.

I think they’re actually expecting pretty much equivalent to nascar

I was at infineon raceway few weeks ago to check out the indy race. I was quite disapointed. NOt much action. Kinda like nascar but with cooler looking cars.

Lee (RallyTalon for you NOOBS) and I will be in attendance for the duration of the weekend.
