Besides the whole RWD thing what are some things that you should look for?
I know the frame rails is a thing with these cars, but what else?
I know many members on here Own/Owned a 240sx or more.
working speedo (or is it the tach ?)
destroyed rear subframe bushings
cant think of what else
if you’re smart, you wont buy one from around here, Ive owned 5 and every 240 from this area has some catastrophic rust problem.
exhibit A: my buffalo 240
exhibit B: my georgia 240
all that dirt cleaned off to reveal the factory black suspension paint
quite the diff^^
The car im looking at is a 1996 s14 and is from florida. It was brought here as payment for the lady’s other car that had work done on it.
The person selling it put it on the lift for me and it is sickly clean. There is not a spot of rust on the car anywhere.
All I know it that it wont go in any gear(5 speed). Said the cluch is completelly shot.
Speedometer works and rear subframe bushings are good.
Looks more like your georgia picture.
Anything else I should Know about these cars Before buying?
don’t buy one that has problems…they are haunted…me and chino should know.
I wouldn’t get a 96 if you plan on doing engine swapping…you’ll fail inspection
What generation do you wanna get…s13 or s14? That should help narrow things a little
S14
Damn, that there is disgusting.
What I love about 180’s from Japan. Body may be beat to heck the but the floors are always mint.
A recent 180 rear section.
if your going to buy a 96 i would be very very careful, if the check engine light is on its prolly emission related, and if your going to swap the car it will not pass inspection. timing chains are known to rattle but who cares as long as its not slapping around. ka trannys can break kinda easy.
if its not rusty buy it
Check Engine light is on but going to scan it tomorrow.
carefull with buying s14 trannies, hard to find and they pull a premium
Be smart, buy Jay’s car.
