inground pool liners

Anybody got any hook ups to get a new liner installed?

Text me fggt. I have someone for you.

I did mine myself with a couple friends. It’s really not a difficult job.

My buddy take care of you on this?

Have to call him still. Been getting out of work to late so set something up.

Here’s my story:

In-ground octagon, rough guesstimate about 18’ diameter, sloped bottom 3’ edge to 5’ center. Also has contoured steps, plastic insert.
Had 1/2" hole in liner on bottom, close to the edge, 3’ deep part… I’ll fix that later…
My wife’s friend’s son and 4 other teenage boys came by this last Sunday.
Notice that pool level dropped 10" in 36 hours.
oh poop.
I’ll try to get an inflatable toy patch over that 1/2" hole. Doesn’t stick.
Walk on liner, feel a separation of liner floor from edge to center pump inlet.

So definitely needs attention, like NOW!
I am guessing I am past the point of putting a band aid on it.

Any tips?
Do I really need to worry about the pool floating when removing water?
Is there an “under liner” also?
How much moneys?

NYstanger, did you pay to have it replace? How much more moneys is that option?

Go to the pool store and get one of the real underwater liner repair kits. I was able to fix decent sized leaks even in the deep end using those. The bitch part is holding your breath long enough to get the patch in place properly. I ended up using a weight placed on top of the patch since by the time I dove down and got it in place I wasn’t able to hold the patch long enough to let the glue set. That’s just a temp fix obviously but it should buy you time while you get your replacement liner.

Mine was a simple 12/24 oval with a deep end and safety ledge. Once I removed the liner the sides were metal and the bottom was a thin layer of cement. We pumped the thing dry sending the water out to the street and I had zero issues with ground water. It probably helped that we did it late spring/early summer when the ground had dried up.

I think your most difficult part is going to be measuring to get the new liner. Do you know who installed the pool originally? Mine was done by Majestic and when I went to them they had all the dimensions on file. I got the liner through them for a little more than I could have ordered it online but since they had the dimensions I was able to get the exact right fit with zero measuring so it was more than worth the extra cost.

As for tips I just watched a few youtube vids, read a couple tutorials and went from there. I will say this, the liner is slippery as hell when you start filling it. I took a nasty spill trying to walk down to the deep end when there was about a foot of water at the bottom to cut the bottom drain out. I ended up with with one small folded seam on the bottom when I was done and I was upset until a friend told me the “pros” that did his ended up with the same thing and told him they couldn’t guarantee that wouldn’t happen.

I found some cement damage when we got the old pool liner out and had to repair. They use a special cement mix that you can get anywhere that installs pools (I got mine at the Majestic warehouse on Walden).

And he paid in booze and food, always a good time.

I’m just glad you guys didn’t immediately laugh when my feet slipped out from under me and I went flat on my back sliding down into the cold water at the bottom of the deep end. You waited a few seconds to make sure I was still conscious first.
