Intake Manifold..Hone or Port and Polish?

I just got my credit card starting max balance is only $500. I’m already $400 deep on that though. I will figure something out…I must turbo this car! So many people keep telling me that if I turbo it, I’m going to constantly have issues with everything else on the car…Hopefully they aren’t right, but I am willing to take that risk.

Just pick up turbo parts one at a time. Same as anything else.

Yah I guess so

Time to start compiling parts, doing research, and getting this done. Thanks for the advice and help guys. I will keep you all updated on how things are going. Hopefully I don’t change my mind again like always.

Sent hybridynamics an e-mail about a week ago…Does anyone know if they take a really long time to respond, or should I try e-mailing them again. I’ve also called a few times, to no avail. I wish it was closer, so I could just take a drive over and talk to them in person.

i think theyre having a dyno day this weekend. it might be worth it to take the trip.

turbos used on ebay for what he wants are like 200 bux, fuel pumps you’re right on, bov’s you’re talkin more like 30 bux, ebay generic intercoolers we run on the turbo dsms are 250 bux

My advice? Your going down the wrong road all together bro. Im not trying to shit on your parade, but by rigging up a kit and adding that extra HP, your going to break alot of other shit. Unless you’ve got enough cash to play around with freely, and another means of transport, just drive the thing for now or do minor stuff. I went down your road and 2 1g DSM’s later and $4,000 in debt, I got jack to show for it now because it turned into a bottomless money pit.

Not just dsm’s. Everyone has a car they regret.

i emailed you back…maybe it never went through.

Exactly, good point. Basically what Im trying to get at is, make your best attempt to be responsible with your money. Because if you dont, you will put it all into that car, and shit will keep breaking.

or you dump $2000 into it and it’s still as slow as a dodge neon with a stuck parking brake.

Aside from the neon comment, I know what you guys are saying. I think the same thing, that’s why I’m constantly changing my mind about what to do. I’ve known quite a few people that have turbod their cars, and never had a problem with it. I’ve also known people who did it, and had nothing but problems. There’s definitely quite a bit of risk involved, you never really know what will happen until it’s done. I wish I could have bought a faster stock car in the first place, but when you have insurance issues, you gotta do what you gotta do. I will just keep researching and hopefully make the right decision…for all I know, I will end up doing all exterior mods again?! Thanks for the advice.

I see what you are saying, but it may be better to suffer for a little while and save up for a better platform. What if you sold your car, bought a beater, and saved for the car you really want? It may be cheaper and better to do it that way instead of dumping time and money into a car with unknown results. good luck with whatever you decide, just don’t “rice” it out or I will run it over with my beater truck.

Haha, don’t worry. There will be no rice here. I made all those mistakes with my first car when I was 16…I’ve learned alot since my L.E.D nozzle sprayer days, lol. Selling my car is not an option, I only got it 2 months ago. I was pressed majorly to buy a car, b/c my other one got totalled, and I had ABSOLUTELY no transportation anywhere. My insurance hates me, or else I would have bought something better in the first place. Ahh well, probably end up doing some minor N/A stuff, and just make it look nice. I’m always scheming, who knows what I’ll end up doing

Hey! My parking brake isin’t stuck! :bigthumb:

my neon> your 77rednecktruck

if your looking for a really cheap turbo setup, just to get you something, try finding a used 14b (Stock 1g turbo) I bought one for 20 bucks once that was in frickin pristine condition. Even consider a sidemount i/c. I know that its not as efficient as a FMIC but it works, and they have gone 12’s. Then all you need is a manifold (from what ive seen of the hybriddynamics boys, theres your ticket) ic plumbing, the stock 1g bov, a good boost gauge and your oil and coolant lines, and your ready to boost. Good luck.

Jeff

14b’s are great if you don’t plan on running much boost. Either that or go scour a junkyard for t3’s.

By “boost” you mean “purchase a fuel system to support boost” as the last step, right? :x:
