2 in the 3rd 1/4 :wtf:
Ben is only gettin fatter and slower. Ben wasn’t blinding anyone with speed before, he been out with a bum knee and he’s put on weight since last year and probably put on more since he’s been out. So more weight and knee thats not 100%. you figure the rest
more weight doesn mean your not gonna be able to move good…look at bettis. hes got speed, agility and a big ass gut. as long as he stays conditioned hell be fine…
maddox is still a decent quarterback. the team is different since when he played in 03 and was WINNING! i actually call it on poor decision making on the offence coordinator for not being able to adjust on the fly for stacking the line. thats what that coach is being paid for also.
different sport, hockey. the pens have so much talent but can they produce NO! Very inconcistant and the ownership needs to readjust the coaching situation. that team shouldnt be loosing so bad. but i guess it helps when the coach and owner are friends
how can u stay conditioned when u get surgery? he is gonna be a bit outta shape after all this time off.
Bettis doesn’t have speed. there is a difference between quickness and speed. He moves good but not as good as he used to because of the weight. The perfect example for Ben is Rod rutherfords Junior vs Senior year at pitt. he put on 25 lbs and it showed in his play. Ben is one of those guys that will continue to get slower as his carrer goes on to the point where he’s a mobile as dan marino… second year and his knees are banged up already.
maddox is still a decent quarterback.
I honstly wonder if some of you have been watching different games than I have…Maddox is nowhere near being a “decent” quarterback.
Let’s see:
- He can’t throw. His arm sucks. Did you see the wounded ducks he was tossing? Gah.
- He has no decision making skill. He misses wide open recievers and throws to guys in double coverage. He can’t organize his team and wastes time outs.
- He can’t hold onto the ball. He’s dropped the ball, literally, every time we’ve seen him.
- He can’t avoid defenders; futhermore, he doesn’t have the presence of mind to realize that he’s surrounded and about to go down. Maybe he DOES realize that there’s a linebacker closing in on him and stands there like a jackass anyway…in which case, refer to point #2.
The Steelers would have won their last game with either Batch or Ben playing. The sad reality is that Maddox is no longer an NFL caliber quarterback.
WE BEAT THEM @ HOME BY ONE POINT!!! I don’t see how they would have won. they could have won just as well with any of those QB’s in there.
WE BEAT THEM @ HOME BY ONE POINT!!!
That was a different game under different game, under different circumstances, with different performances.
It’s irrelevant.
I don’t see how they would have won. they could have won just as well with any of those QB’s in there.
They could have won with 2 out of their 3 quarterbacks. You watched the game, right? Our defense, while not stellar, played well “enough” to get us a win. It was our offense that lost the game.
Neither Ben nor Batch would have taken that many sacks. Nor would they have made such piss poor on field decisions. Or have thrown so many awful balls. We needed three points in the fourth quarter to win and I feel confident that either of our other two quarterbacks could’ve generated them. Maddox could not run an effective offense, period, and regardless of what you say, the quarterback is the cornerstone of a team’s offense.
On the other hand, if our offensive line and running backs would have stepped up we also would have won. I’m not placing 100% of the blame on Maddox, but face reality- he fucking sucks.
if past games are irrealevant why do they study game fiims of themselves and their opponents. we played them to the wire twice now. the first time wasn’t a fluke. Um incase U missed the game maddox was taking the steelers down the field for the winning FG. They were within 20 yards when heinz dropped and kicked that ball. And you can’t speculate on what the other two would have done. I could say maybe c batch don’t lose the afc championship buy giving them two picks, one for a TD. But its a stupid point.
I still don’t see how the first game is irrelevant. the scores were even close, what was the first one 20-19? then you got 16-13. thats pretty damn close. so with ben and home field we are only 7 pts better than maddox on the road…
Bettis had zero yards on sunday, does that mean he’s no longer an NFL caliber RB?
Bettis had zero yards rushing on Sunday. Does that mean he’s no longer an NFL caliber runningback?
there is nothing to figure out until it happens… i’m not one for predicting the future… however based on last sundays performance and 2 weeks prior… maddox sucks balls and is a waste.
out of how many attempts?
kthnx
Bettis carried 2 times, for zero yards.
Okay, Willie Parker only had 59 yards… Perhaps we should make him play in the CFL for that performance?
out of how many total yards? and total point?
total time of possession for steeler offense?
The steelers had a total time of possesion of 34:00 even. Ravens was 36:51.
Parker had 18 attempts for 59 yards.
The steelers had 17 first downs:
3 from rushing
11 from passing
3 from penalties
On a side note, I’d like to thank foxsports.com for aiding me in the victory of this argument.

so 59 / 18 = ~3.28 or 3.3 yards per carry… whats the nfl average?
17 1st downs and how many touchdowns? 34:00 minutes to accomplish what?
Gee, maybe the Raven’s could focus on maintaining a lock tight run defense since it was obviously apparent that there was no passing threat?

Exactly. As far as I’m concerned, that’s the end of the argument.
the end of the argument is it don’t matter if jerry rice and joe montana in their prime come back for the steelers on monday night if our D can’t hold the colts under 24.
