Close, I fucking hate pages though. I guess that would work for most people though.
Pages is OK from what I’ve heard. However, I have seen cases with more complex docs, where pages doesn’t work well at all.
The problem with pages is most people save the document in pages format. Then try and open it in Microsoft Word and wonder why it doesn’t work.
Won’t be missing out on anything? Doesn’t Apple (and Android based products) come out with something “latest and greatest” just about every year? How long till the current iPad is “outdated”?
Or are you saying that the iPad 2 was just a huge letdown in that it wasn’t anything special over the original? Not trying to argue, I really am curious.
Go with the 3, for $100 better processor, screen and camera…the 16GB should be fine if you aren’t saving tons of full length movies.
A friend of mine has the Ipad 2 with Microsoft Word and excel apps, they were very good and no compatibility issues so far when working on files between IPAD and laptop. I’ll have to find out where he got them.
Ipad 3 arriving at my doorstep on the 16th, will let you know what I think of it.
To me the ipad 2 should have been called the iPad S. What I’ve learned with Apple products, at least on the phone side, is to skip the “S” generation and wait for the model increase.
IE… iphone 3g was a huge improvement over the original iPhone. 3gs… not so much over 3g. 4 was a huge change from the 3gs. 4s compared to the 4, not so much. I expect the 5 to be a big change from the 4s, with the new ipad’s power, lte antennas and larger screen.
I would use mine for work, games and surfing the web. I have a Pandigital 9" tablet, a laptop, ipod touch and droid X. I pretty much have all areas covered for streaming, and music. Sounds like a 16GB Ipad 3 would do just fine.
Jeff, I know your not supposed to answer this, but why would I buy service through Verizon when I always have my phone on me and I can just jailbreak it to have a wifi hotspot and have just 1 bill?
Good info, I’m at the same spot. I think I’m gonna go with the 3 though, for a hundered bucks.
X…
Everyone on NYSpeed is stackin becks it’s $100 get the 3
Technically, it’s not the iPad 3, it’s the New iPad.
And I agree with Aaron, the screen side-by-side is such a huge difference, you would kick yourself for not getting the new model.
As for storage, I have a 32 gig original iPad, and I am using 4 gigs of space on it…
Thanks for the input guys. I am going to pick up the new one Friday. Will the stores be sold out? Am I better off to order it sooner than just going in?
It was a 3 week back order as of an article I saw at 6am this morning. If you think you’re getting one on launch day now you better go get in line early. Like bring a tent early.
Getting one on lauch day will be like black friday lines, not worth it IMO.
Order online, free shipping and free engraving…wait the few weeks.
My point was that Apple products hold their value. If someone is buying new, then buy the latest and hold on to it for a while. If they already had one, its a different story and not really a must upgrade situation.
Lol well played
Apple refreshes their products yearly and ya, people buy anything with an Apple logo but unless it is some major change, then I personally don’t see a point to upgrade.
Their new mac books typically contain some update hardware but unless you are a power user, most people don’t need a new processor every year to update Facebook. If you are buying the new iPad, you typically would keep it for a while since it has 4G and a HD screen so there isn’t anything in the next few releases that will cause you to upgrade again. Same reason I don’t update my iPhone to the S models because its just a faster processor but someone who is buying a new one, why not have the latest and greatest at the time and hold on to it is my point and figuring out what technology will really cause you to need to upgrade sooner than a few years and since 1080P and 4G LTE is the next big thing, the new iPad has that so you wont see any advancements for at least 3 years.
They still own 59% of the tablet market share. The next largest is Amazon with only 17%, and then Samsung at 9%. They are doing something right, be it marketing, or technology.
Nice that they didn’t bother testing anything with graphics, where the new quad core a5x chip is going to crush the old one.
Taking photos with an iPad is the new thing comparable to the people who wore bluetooth headsets everywhere.
