iPhone Release

meh. the 2nd generation iPhone will be badass, but this one is really missing some big features. no 3G is a huge one. If you’re not in a hotspot, your internet is pretty much useless.

This bad boy right here is the way to drop $600 on a phone:

no voice dialing, voice recording, instant messaging, memory card slot, MMS, A2DP (stereo bluetooth), common Bluetooth file transfer, GPS capability, text copy and paste, video recording with the built-in camera, native games, and support for MP3 files as ringtones. Also has a battery which is non-removable, and once depleted, will need to be replaced by the manufacturer for mad $$.
Plus you can’t really fuck with it. With the Mogul, it’s all COMPLETLY customizeable, you can even hack into the registry and rework any thing imaginable.

They came out about 2 weeks ago, got mine about a week ago. Fucking love it to death. Sprint’s EVDO gives you broadband speed on your phone, Windows Moblie 6 is great, can do almost anything you can do on a PC on this baby. Bluetooth, Wi Fi, 2.0MP camera that takes decent shots. up to a 4GB flash card for movies and music…

Palm OS > Windows CE

That phone is pretty nice mike. Definatly has more features. I love my phone and i cant wait till the second gen. The Internet is not really slow on here. Its just like the 1st version of every product…

:bowrofl:

yeah I heard the 6700 was a real pain in the ass because of bugs and stuff, but apparantly they addressed all of those issues with the new version, and Windows Mobile 6.0 seems WAY more stable than 5.0.

here’s how I have my home screen set up:

For those of you bitching about the iPhone’s inability to do certain things…I found this (taken from boingboing)

Developer “gj” and others behind the iPhone Development Project (http://iphone.fiveforty.net/wiki) claim to have released a “proof of concept activation program for the iPhone” that makes it possible to activate the device without an AT&T account, or re-activate after an AT&T account has been terminated.

Project participants explain that their work is intended to discover “additional uses for the iPhone by (legitimately) enabling its potential capabilities,” and that the project is “for informational purposes only.” Snip from the “goals and milestones” page:

The current goals of the iPhone Development Project are as follows:

  • Break DMG Password COMPLETE

  • Break Activation COMPLETE

  • Unlock Phone

  • Run Third Party Applications

  • Allow DUN/Tethering

  • Remove IMEI Transmitting

  • Enable Disk Mode

(…)Also, as we enable certain features of iPhone, other features previously thought impossible may become reality.

And from the “Activation process” details page:

  • Phone activation - Using a “known” token (one used to activate an iPhone legitimately), we can activate an iPhone even after deactivation. We can use this “known” token to activate multiple phones, but the token is believed to contain identifying information so we have not provided a token. I want to emphasize that a known token will work on any phone, and once you have a known token you can use wifi, iPod, etc.
