A friend of mine at work got a real cannon. Hand made, wooden wheels… basically just like you see at old forts. He’s blasted it off a few times with gun powder from his house on Lake Erie in Hamburg. No projectile, just a powder charge to make a big boom.

My gut says nanny state NY has some law against adding an explosive charge to a home made cannon and firing it off toward the lake in the village of Hamburg but I’ll be damned if I can find something specific.

My grandfather had one he shot tennis balls out of at the neighbors. Moved to Florida and does it down there now. Never had a problem with NY.

A person down the street from he has had a real cannon in their front yard for years. I dont know if youre allowed to shoot it though.

We used to shoot burning wads of newspaper out of them. There are a few in NT.

I once found a real cannonball on a beach in England when I was young. It must have been hundreds of years old.
