is this a good deal? 91 Audi CQ

Did you expect much else don? These cars are awesome in the snow, but Like any 18 year old car things will be worn out. Just look over it and do your research so you know what you are getting into.

I’ve owned quite a few older 5cyl Audi’s. Alot of 10vt’s and more recently, a 20vt. The drivelines are unbeatable. Dumb shit will nickel and dime you, but the later 20v 5cyl models (turbo or na, like the 7A found in the coupe and the 20v 90 sedan) tend to be more refined, with less “dumb shit” going wrong. They always start up and run great( unlike the CIS 5cyl’s of years past). But be prepared for stuff like stuck ebrake cables, seized rear calipers(fronts are pretty bulletproof), wheel bearings, possible center support bearings, sticky rear diff lock actuator, ripped cv boots, alternators can be troublesome(always replace with oem unit,(Bosch) autozone parts need not apply), valve cover gaskets will leak eventually. The stuff that can be a real headache is the goofy hydraulic assist braking system the car has(along with alot of the audi’s of yesteryear) the lines leak, pumps get whimpy and leak. The nitrogen “bomb” wears out aftertime, causing braking issues and warning lights like whoa. These last few parts I listed can be pricy. Otherwise, pretty decent cars.

I had a 1990 CQ picked it up with a about 63k on her for $800. Drove it for a year then flipped it the next summer for a large profit… Worst mistake I’ve made to date was selling this car. It was a total tank and super fun to drive.

Great advice and a wealth of knowledge from you again…:blah:

hmmm, i kinda want this. would be a sweet project.

stuff a 2.7tt in there.

Try 3200, or 3174 depending on options, and source. :roflpicard:

german car companies include driver and full tank of gas as weight.

whatever though, it was a quick google.

Best post of the thread.

Second best post of the thread.

Both of these guys have owned quite a few true Audis (5 cyl, AWD). If you are ready to become well versed on a certain type of car, then this is a good buy.

That was a considered option, especially with this locally:

Looks like I am going to pass on it though. Don’t need more of a headache until the blazer is done, and I’ve got too many thing that need to be done this summer with the house.

Anyone else who wants it, go for it. I may be able to take a look at it for people.

They are pretty much gutless. I had the Stebro which made it sound fast.lol
They are tanks and can take just about anything, except what this guy did to my old car. lol.

Oh, here is the before…

any person buying any car should be wary of electrical issues that might exist.

I was just being overly sarcastic because I am a hater.
