Is this gonna blow up???

Now that I have your attention in hopes of an explosion…

I have a 1993 teg that had a radiator leak. I filled it with a sealer and it no longer leaks. Problem fixed…not so fast! LOL

Prior to this the thermo worked fine and the radiator fans were working.
Now it wont register a temp and the fans don’t turn on at all.

I had someone work on the car and the fuse cover is gone so I don’t know which fuse to check as a starting point for the fans. Would the thermostat being shot cause the fans to not run? I thought the fans ran full time though I could be wrong of course.

Thanks for any suggestions.
Mike

what did u use to seal the leak?

Your user manual will have the layout for the fuses… or the internet.

I would imagine the fans don’t turn on because the temp sensor never hits high enough to trigger them…

Did you check the temp sensor and make sure it is plugged in and not covered in that radiator stop leak?

I’m not real car saavy. I did check the fuse and it’s good.
I don’t know where the temp sensor is, I didn’t unplug anything so I would think it’s not gunked up. The fluid in the hose gets hot but the radiator stays cool so it seems the fluid’s not cycling if that helps diagnose.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

Your thermostat is probably gunked up from in inside of the block. (Thermostats are not electronic)

And if the thermo dosen’t open the fans won’t go on I presume right?
So probably a bad/stuck thermostat. That was what I was thinking since I put the sealant in but I was just guessin since that’s the only thing that changed.

Anybody want to earn some side cash and fix this guy since it’s hot and I can’t take it to Don/carnuts shop. LOL

Yeah well your coolant temp sensor could be still reading cool since your thermostat aint opening up.

So I SHOULD blow this up then? J/K
I guess it probably needs a thermostat and radiator and flush. HRMMM

^ yes just try that that should do it

Ok…blowing it up it is.
I checked the rad and it was low…reservoir was full.
Ran for a bit and still no fans. Guess I need to get it somewhere to “DO WORK”.
