Isolating Audio

Does anybody know of a preferably free decent program to isolate audio? Any help is greatly appreciated.

You mean seperate the vocals from audio? It’s not possible on an already mixed track. Unless you have like the ProTools actual recording of them and you can then mute the audio. dbPoweramp has a preset that supposedly does this but I’ve tried it and it doesn’t work at all.

No I meant like taking 30 seconds from a sound clip or a song. How could I do that?

cool edit pro, now known as adobe audition. Not sure if you can get them for free anymore since adobe bought them. Takes a bit to get used to but an awesome sound editing/mixing program

dbpoweramp converter is a free download. convert your audio to a format that is read by sound recorder, edit music, convert back to mp3 and your done.

im assuming your looking to to do ringtones? maybe not, but thats probably the easiest way to do it.

Yeah ringtones mostly. There some random shit from O&A I’d like to get, makes sweet ringtones haha. But thanks guys I’ll try the adobe thing and the dbpoweramp thinger.

I use Sony Sound Forge to slice tracks. Not free unless you torrent it.

upload your own chunk of audio, and choose the 30 second bit you want as your ringer

send to phone, and your done.
