Its ok you really wanna laugh laugh at this…my first time driving, im out in my dad truck, went to turn into a has station…didint realize his old 85 dodge ram custom 100 turned like an oil tanker and missed the driveway…so I said fuck it and went across the lawn. Off roading 4 L. lmfao
So why not add more of a gradual angle to improve the turn-in distance, making it easier for those leaving/entering. Without compromising safety of parked cars, and reducing lawn damage/clean-up.
Granted the logistics of doing so would be quite difficult given the amount of traffic constantly going through the lot. Without overly impacting the businesses in the plaza.
awwww… okay. I’ll work with what I have because that’s what’s there, right? why bother changing something when I should just look where I’m going! you know, I should really start driving with my eyes open.
how does it seem like I blamed it on the curb when I say, “I hit the curb” ??
I didn’t say that it jumped out in front of me or anything. just that I usually don’t run my car directly into things…and that it’s a bad design that should be changed because it’s definitely damaged more than just my car.
obviously.
Your damage probably wouldn’t have been as bad as it was if the dirt wasn’t scraped out at the end there
No one ever said common sense, dictated parking lot design. Or the design of many things for that manner.
yesss. why not. even one less parking space would be nice… just to make that entrance wider for the people having to turn to the right more abruptly when there’s a car coming from the other way trying to get out.
it’d be nice if they could remove that one parking spot but more than likely that lot is already at the minimum allowable number of parking spots.
people like me hit it on purpose. I try to see how far down I can hit it. :headbang:
Since when do the curbs end before the parking spots do? They are there to protect cars that park there from people that can’t go around curbs.
yeah, so while you’re stating that its a bad design, you are also making the statement that IF the curb wasn’t the way that it was you wouldn’t have hit it…seems like you are not only complaining that the design is bad, but that the design caused the accident.
yes you should drive with your eyes open
So are you saying bad designs can never cause or increase the probability of an accident?
no, thats not what im saying.
basically lets get to the reality of the whole thing. Had she been more careful, she wouldn’t have hit the curb. As i said before, the design might be bad, but in this case she could have avoided the curb if she was really paying attention.
If this was a design that was causing accidents on a main road or something, I could understand the point of the thread…but its a parking lot, she hit a curb, we’ve all done it and nothing is going to happen from her complaining about it.
 My thoughts exactly.
I’ll be honest
I was at that EB a while ago and sat there and ate mighty and watched person after person monster truck over that curb
The design sucks.
Only reason i dont hit it Is because i already had in my old ass blazer i use to have
It just ends up in a blind spot in the front right after you pull in and no one notices it.
still a curb.
In all honesty, who the fuck cares.
I think its funny sitting in the building and watching people hit it, but I am not going to sit here and ridicule Jan for hours on end for hitting it.
She made a mistake, who cares? Does it make everyone feel better to tell her that over and over?
Yes, if that many people hit it, then it is a design problem. Yes, you can avoid it if you pay close attention, but in any sort of functional design, if there is a pattern of people running into a problem, then yes, there usually is a REAL problem.
The problem here is that this parking lot is obviously too small for the amount of traffic it receives, so they intentionally put up curbs to keep people from running into one another. Obviously this has the downside of still causing damage to one’s vehicle, but it is better than the alternative.
Bottom line: Be careful in parking lots, and if you make a mistake, don’t post it on the internet.
Heres a fun curb story, Im driving my G20 van like a complete asshole leaving an applebees, since its wet out and swerving and having the back end kick out and all that shit, and i go down the side of the building where there are no lights, and thinking where the parking lot continues it ends, i Smash the curb at about 30 head on, and i bounced way the fuck up in the air, and being that there is a 10 foot path of lawn between 2 ponds for me to go, i almost ended up in water. It was very scary and got me to stop being a major dick on the road. and woohoo for adrenaline
Ahaha, I did something similar in my old ranger taking a curb around 35 or so head-on when out snow drifting. Got some nice air according to those watching. Twin-I beams were the hotness.
:word:
for fuck’s sake, I wasn’t complaining. I was commenting on the event and saying something should be done about it. and hey, maybe there are some people on here who could’ve hit it next week. they won’t now, will they!
the design is shitty and if it was designed better, I wouldn’t have hit it. But yes, it was my fault. and so what if it’s a road or a parking lot? it’s still causing damage to peoples’ vehicles… costing them money. that’s a problem. a problem that can be easily fixed by some sort of markers.
but tommy… I just…wanted to… share.
Word, thats the main reason people hit it im sure. If you turn into the parking lot making a right, then the curb is completely blind on that side. When you pull into the lot it feels like you should be turning right immediately because of how close quiznos is.
