I just think we should be spending NYS taxes on something that will positively effect NYS. How about a committee on welfare reform? or energy conservation, or something that will benefit us. Not something that will make you look good to the country. I know Global Warming is happening…I never said it wasnt. What I said is that it is unavoidable, and not as much a direct cause of humans as much as a natural occurance and we can not stop that.

It is not at all a natural occurance. It is purely a result of us and our actions. It can be slowed down, and sadly public awareness isnt doing shit, its going to come down to legislation…
“Global Warming” typically refers to human-induced climate change resulting from burning of fossil fuels. What you’re saying is that you do not believe in global warming, not that it is impossible to stop.

me? Its entirely possible to stop. Im going out on a limb here, but I think it may be Sweeden, or one of the Scandanavian countrues, which intends to be free of fossil fuels by 2015 or something like that. They are currently at something like 60% or something like that…
I very much believe in conservation of the environment, but what I am saying is that it is a National issue, not just a state issue. NY has strict pollution laws right now, and we are currently making an effort to try to clean things up, the entire nation is. It is nothing new, it is just something that has been going on that is making real progress and something that she can say “hey look I supported this and look how well it is going” while masking the “real” issues that are going on they they will not touch because it keeps them in power and when it comes down to it that is all they crave.
Yes but you have to realize that the oil industry has a MAJOR role in the world economy. There is nothing in the store today that has not been effected by oil in some way. Yes we need to stop relying on fossil fuels, but to do so at the mass level that the US uses them is not possible right now. There are substantial efforts being made, but the process is still way too expensive and undeveloped to make a real differance right now. Bush has been pushing for the alternative fuels thing…not that I am trying to idolize him, I am just saying.
I never said that Global Warming doesnt exist. I said it is not JUST human invalvement in the already ongoing natural process that is causing it, and many poloticians are using it as a backdrop for public image.

Keep on thinking that. If you look at the history of the weather you can see, like I have stated numerous times, that we are coming out of a global cold spell and temps are normalizing. Yes, humans have effected the ecosystem with polution, but we are not the DIRECT reason for it warming up.
