Jamey Rodemeyer - Bullying/Suicide

Lol guys. Now I have no fucking idea what’s going on in this thread.

Hm. Maybe then it isn’t the bullying that’s the issue, but the thought that kids can just txt (or some other useless activity) their way to bliss? Social media isn’t going to go away, but it doesn’t have to be a person’s entire life.

Right on.

I’ve never heard of this particular story, does that tell you something?

That you don’t pay attention to the news?

Negative. I follow the news pretty thoroughly most of the time.

Saw this elsewhere and thought I’d post it.

If it’s true, I think this goes pretty far above just typical teasing/bullying.

The parents of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer, who was found dead at their home on Sept. 18, indicated in an exclusive interview with TODAY’s Ann Curry on Tuesday that their daughter endured further taunts at a school function immediately after Jamey’s wake. At a homecoming dance she attended shortly after her brother’s death, a potentially poignant moment turned ugly after a song by Lady Gaga, Jamey’s favorite artist, who recently dedicated a song at a concert in his memory.

“She was having a great time, and all of a sudden a Lady Gaga song came on, and they all started chanting for Jamey, all of his friends,’’ Jamey’s mother, Tracy, told Curry. “Then the bullies that put him into this situation started chanting, ‘You’re better off dead!’ and ‘We’re glad you’re dead!’ and things like that.

My message to the media:

Ok, I’m sorry about what happened to this kid. But enough is enough, can we move on already? Jesus Christ.

I am not going to read 149 posts but if no one posted this you should be ashamed of yourselves…

Maybe the family just sucks? Darwin missed a generation or two.

Being bullied after death…do they fucking read these titles before they put them out…jesus fucking christ…

Idunno, that’s pretty fucked up that some kids can’t realize that their words are so harmful, and that they continue after a life was taken. Not sure there is much that we can do though…freedom of speech.

His sister being harassed after the fact is disgusting and pathetic.

For the crap these kids are doing to his family/sister… I think they should parade them all down to the morgue to see death, then jail, let them spend 24 hours in the holding center…

Why didn’t the parents change schools for the kid before he killed him self if it was this bad and the school wasn’t policing the issue? Seems like it would have helped to remove him from the school to a different one.

I stated something similar before. That a parents job is to protect their kid at any cost…even if it means re-locating.
Sadly I think this was a personality issue and the problem would have followed the kid. I’m surely not condoning extreme bullying and I think the recent posts of the sister being tortured are disgusting. That said, there are some people that for whatever reason are targets no matter where they are. Maybe it’s a brain chemistry thing…but I suspect it’s a parenting issue at the core.

When I was in middle school a friends brother died in an ATV accident. His wallet was stolen and he was left, possibly alive and dying (nobody knows except the thief). Anyhow…my friend was picked on and many kids made asshole remarks about his dead brother, stolen wallet etc… My friend didn’t kill himself despite the pain I’m sure he was feeling. I think it comes down to internal fortitude and parenting.

This shit is being way over played. A us soldier gets Kia and will get 15 seconds on the news. If they are wounded, now one will most likley know. This kid killed himself and has been on the news for over a week.

He was week minded, his parents did not do everything they needed to help. The school dropped the ball. There is way bigger topics we need to be dealing with in this country.

Kids will be kids. It was was his own fault that he died. No one hung him, He did it all by hiself. You will not be able to make laws against bullying. This is typical America. It is everyone elses fault for what happend.

Yes, things could have been done to prevent this. But they were not.

The news reporters should follow in his footsteps. It would be a better world.

This then opens up the question of should they even have to change districts/schools. Why should they be inconvenienced by someone else’s wrongdoing?
