Japan Star recieving Bad rep from FL

LMAO, he probably didn’t want to pop it for me cuz I know miata shit in and out and would have been able to notice he in fact did JACK SHIT to his car :rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl

it looked 100% stock with an intake and different colored spark plug wires :lol

yep

all the kids hanging around him looked like they were freshman in highschool, rofl

I bought my Silvia front from Japan Star, it was in pretty good shape, but I saw their motors, pretty beat looking. They wanted to sell me a bunch of random strut tower braces, they were obviously not for a S13 :lol

Wow, if we’re talkin about bad reps here… maybe HookedOn240 should go work there.

:rofl:rofl i cant wait to see him again.

I can’t wait to get my miata back on the road  it looks a lot nicer

im gunna pm you in a min… soon as i find the link.

Was it a seafoam green dual projector set with the radiator support cut off the car and still attached? If so it was there for a LOOOONG time.

Yeah Japan Star = LOSE

And whats with the hype of JDM shit. My car is 100% JDM, they just shipped it here. :retardclap

Most of the stories I’ve learend about japan star are horrible… Conditions the engines are kept in etc…

Theres a lot of webistes that sell JDM motors and hardly anyone has gotten a bad motor, and if they did theyre generaly pretty good about fixing the problem… A lot of places compression test at the very least to make sure its good before selling.

Japan star is over priced IMO…

I reemmber a few people saying a Redtop SR20 from them is about 2000 bucks?

Theres quite a few sites where you can get a redtop for 1200 shipped to your door…

A base SR20DET 700 bucks shipped, and an SR20DE 400 bucks shipped.

My friend has bought a couple Honda motors there. No complaints from him, but I’ve “heard things” as well.

nah it was red, triple projector, with the radiator support.

You sure they werent “JDM” DSM motors? :rofl

:rofl ^^

There all in cars that still run 3 years later!Including my own personal 92 civic hatch that has a jstar b16a sir2 thats turboed and tuned by morgan. Its very easy all you have to do it go and bring a compression tester with you pull the valve cover or fill cap shine a flash light in the hole check for metal shavings varnish sludge etc etc .Engines dont need to be taken apart that would be an extreme inconvience use common sense fill the engine with oil and filter run them and change it again. Its a used motor and none of them have been babied so take it easy on them till you know it works properly. Everyone allways talks shit about every shop in the area when they make mistakes or the customer makes mistakes but what they dont relize all these shop stand behind there product or work and eventually the people running them arnt going to put up with it and close the buisness down the fact is before jstar showed up the only other place to get motors from was cali and I am sure as hell not going to drive to cali if theres a problem with any motor. jstar is local and convienent for me and several others and is no different than a junkyard I dont hear anyone complaining about how there junk yard motor blew up but the fact is it happens such as the wrx thats forsale in our classified section from nads he blamed it on synapse saying there work was shady and crappy but it ended up being a junk yard motor that was at fault and synapse replaced it free of charge!!! instead of talking shit about local buisneses support them or they might end up the way of the dinosaur

I have had good luck with them as well. I bought a complete B16a swap from them, but they didn’t have the complete swap right there. They sent me the ecu from canada and pieced together the axels. I am very happy the way the motor ran though. Still going stronge 2 years later. My B18b also ran great when it was together.

Yeah they’re way overpriced. When I got my clip at the time stuff was expensive because it wasn’t readily available over here. I payed 3k shipped for a '98 Blacktop clip from a Type X S13 with 53k miles.
