So I came across a 2.8L turbo diesel jeep liberty the other day. I thought it was awesome! Anyone know anything about them? Reliability? Issues? Etc.
I kinda want one. They’re hard to find but I’ve found a few.
Girl i know had one, all i knew was that it always had issues, not sure about specifics.

New Grand Cherokee’s have a diesel option but they sell for A-rab money
Vm motori produces the new chevy Cruze diesel… Aswell as the new 1500 dodge ram and jeep… The old liberty diesels are also built by vm motori (Italy)
they are absolute junk, when i got my liberty i was bummed i couldn’t find a diesel, but after having the 3.7 and seeing all the problems the 2.8 owners have im more than happy i never got one, biggest issue i’ve seen is timing chain failure before 100,000 miles, others include oil drain plug threads stripping (aluminum pan), turbo failures (most of which seem to be due lack of lubrication) from everything i’ve seen the better fuel mileage comes with way higher corrective maintenance costs, only issues with the newer 3.7L are oil leaks at the valve cover gasket, and shit gas mileage. they are made by vm motori as are the new diesels in the grand cherokee
