I think I’d rather walk than own a Chrysler product.
That said, if it was too far to walk, there was no bus service, none of my friends were around to drive me and those were my only 2 options I’d take the Grand Cherokee. I wouldn’t take it to my originally intended destination though. I’d drive it to a non-Chrysler dealership and trade it on something else, then drive to where I originally wanted to go.
I drove a Commander, and was not impressed at all with it; horrible Chrysler Interior.
That WK has the 3.7 V6, which for a lot of people is undersized and underpowered for the JGC. I have the 4.7 V8 (non-HO) in my WJ and IMO it’s underpowered.
That model of the grand Cherokee blows hard. We had two as company vehicles and they were permanently banned from being purchased ever again. Donno about the Commander, but the Cherokee has so many issues.
I own a Chrysler product. A fully loaded Chrysler product and I have had it for a year now. It has driven less than 3000 miles and most of them are from friends that I loan it out to. In fact it is out with a friend right now for the next couple days while I fix his car. I have found nothing that I like about it. Their “Leather” is vinyl, and all of the electronics and features are buggy as hell. The ride/handling is horrible at best and the engine makes weird noises. Fuck Chrysler.
It is not a jeep, but I test drove one of those and it was worse.
I love my jeep. It is not comfortable, warm, fuel efficient or driver friendly. My jeep will go anywhere just not very quickly. However it (mine) has been very reliable. If it wasn’t a wrangler I never would have bought a Chrysler product. Good luck with your choices.
Yeah, I should have mentioned that the Wrangler is the only exception to my Chrysler hate rule. And maybe the Viper, just because if I have enough toy car money to buy a Viper I probably don’t give a shit about reliability anymore.
I have had great luck with grand cherokee’s and many mopar cars and trucks with no major repairs needed. Last grand i sold had almost 200k on it. Doesnt matter what car you buy if it was well taken care of it should last awhile. I find it funny the statement above about not wanting to drive a chrysler anywhere i feel the same about most other brands. I work on alot of cars and most of them arnt chryslers coming in broken.
All the hate on jeeps, wow. Personally my 04 WJ JGC Limited has served me well and has overall been a good truck. It’s had a few minor issues, but overall it’s been the most reliable and comfortable vehicle I’ve owned. It’s driven all the way across the country; well buffalo to LA, without missing a beat, and does the mountain canyons out here in winter like a champ.
My friend has a new wrangler and its pretty legit, Chrysler has come a long since 10+ years ago except maybe in the paint department. Seriously, I’ve been noticing a lot of new Chryslers with fucking terrible orange peel. At first I thought it was maybe one car but its fucking every single one (almost).
