Jeeps

Never had an issues with my 02 Jeep

I’ve had a Dodge Caliber as a rental for the last 3 weeks while my wife’s car is in the shop.

Biggest piece of shit I’ve ever driven. Less cargo space than a civic, 20 mpg, under steady moderate acceleration the CVT wobbles between ratios so the whole car shakes, 20 mpg in a fucking compact car, steering and suspension feel like every bushing is shot.

37k miles. I’m not even paying for it but I’m going to turn it in today and go back to driving my Xterra since it doesn’t even get better mileage. I can’t stand driving this thing every day anymore.

+1 to dodge hate

I had an 02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland for about a year and half. Had it from Jan 2010 to June 2011. Bought it from the original owner, it had only 67,000 miles. Came with every service record from day one. Pretty much the perfect used car you would think. I had to replace the drivers side window regulator, entire parking brake assembly, a rear axle seal, grease was everywhere so I had to do the rear brakes too. After a year of owning it I had no heat because the blend doors for the automatic climate control were broken. Car had less than 80k miles when I got rid of it. What a great day that was seeing that thing drive away.

So much chrysler hate, i love it. Chrysler products are the worst. My wife owned a 2000 town and country when we first started dating. What a pile of shit.

And out of that, the only thing that’s not “normal” and happens with any vehicle is the blend door issue; which is a common and known issue with the HVAC system on the WJ. $150 in parts and 6 hours of work to fix; did it on a Saturday.

You have very low standards. Have you ever owned a Japanese car?

Nope, can’t say that I have.

But per his examples -

Axle seal went out - Yea, what’s the failure rates on any seal, Fry, you’re an engineer, seals fail, sometimes they last a long ass time, other times they fail quickly.
Rear Brakes - Per Poster, was taken out by the grease of the seal failing
Parking Brake - WNY Salt and probably never being used; look at any rust-belt vehicle with a parking brake that’s never used, they almost always seize up.
Window Regulator - Motor and Regulator are one assembly in the WJ, I can give some credit to this one as a Chrysler thing, but I’ve seen motors fail on new (within a year or 2 old) vehicles before.

Overall, nothing strange about those failures on a 8 year old vehicle; regardless of what make/model/country of origin.

closed on the commander today, I liked it more over the grand Cherokee. also test drove a pilot, this Nissan thing and an Acadia

I need the space for work purposes, awd and somewhat okay mileage for its size. (my work pays for gas anyways lol!)

So you need a reliable car for your job, and you bought a Chrysler product?

:ham:

So out of a murano, pilot and Acadia you thought the commander was the best? Wow… Just wow.

Yes it was all easy fix stuff and didn’t break the bank doing them myself. I farmed out the axle seal. However in my opinion it was all stuff that shouldn’t be happening on a car with that low of mileage. It wasn’t a rust bucket.

OP good luck with the Commander. Hope you have an extended warranty.

Lol I cant wait to see another thread, but with the commander on fire!!!..NOT

Maybe You will get a tint ticket in this too, :gotme:

Hate those tiny tickets. So hard to read.

And jap cars never have any problems either? lmfao

LET THEM BURN!

Sorry, just jumping in

loling hard, not a single commander too

Son of a bitch! I meant tint, but yea them tiny tickets do suck, I can’t read them for shit!

Here ya go:

A mid-sized SUV caught fire early Tuesday morning while it was parked in the driveway of a single-family home in Anaheim, a fire official said.

The fire involving a Jeep Commander was reported at 1:07 a.m. in the 2100 block of South Nautical Street, said Maria Sabol, a spokeswoman for the Anaheim Fire Department.

The Jeep owner woke up to the sound of the horn and the airbags popping, Sabol said. The owner said the last time she drove her Jeep was around 9 p.m. Monday and then parked it in the driveway, she said.

And it wasn’t even being driven!

But if you do drive one…
