Jesse's '94 M-Edition Miata. LS1 swap coming soon.

'94 Mazda Miata M-Edition. Montego Blue with tan top, tan/black leather interior with baller-ass wood grain shift knob and E-brake :naughty:

1 of 3,003 ever made. Drove it back from Delaware after I sold the DSM.

Anywho,

the car will be getting an LS1/T56 swap. I’ll be using the Aeromotive AFPR and Supra TT pump out of the DSM, and I’ll be using a custom cooling system that I’ll probably piece together out of Summit. The rear end will be a Ford 8.8 IRS, 31-spline, if I could ever find one. Apparently they’re out of '03-up Cobra’s, and '02-up Explorers. Axles are custom pieces that mate the Ford diff to the Miata hubs. The axles are heat treated and rated to 550 ft. lb of torque. The exhaust will be custom headers (1 5/8" primaries) Y’ed into a single 3.5" exhaust (simply because I already have the piping and mufflers laying around.)

Only plans for the car, “mod” wise, are the 3.5" exhaust, some sort of intake with a K&N that I’ll throw together, MAYBE an LS6 intake manifold, some sort of tune, and a small shot of nitrous (75 or 100.) And, of course, sticky tires.

As of right now, the car is stock, with the exception of the Hard Dog rollbar I put in last week. Got it on sale for $385 shipped to my door. The car gets more looks and compliments than the DSM ever did. Handles better, too. But Christ, it is pathetically slow.

On to the pics. The first are when I was in Delaware getting it. The headlight covers have since been fixed. They just needed “bent” back out a hair. It was like someone was leaning on them or something? I don’t know, but the covers line up perfect with the hood now.

I also removed the trunk rack. Thankfully, it didn’t bolt on. It had a “clamp” around the end of the trunk lid. A good buff, and then a wax, took all the marks away.

awesome
miatas are fun little cars that are nearly indestructible

there is someone on steel city stangs selling their IRS

nice car man cant wait to see it done

wow that can take a LS1? jeez that will be a rocket

amazing…

screw the nitrous, get some vortec v8 truck heads to put on that ls1.

Hell yes!

sweet project

ls1 fits in there nice looks a little close on the sides but to bad

should of kept the trunk rack. that would make it a total sleeper

what year heads is best to use?

I still have it, but it’s being saved until I actually need it to go somewhere. Everyone says the rack makes the car look like an old British roadster.

But personally, I can’t stand it.

um shouldn’t you guys know this? I personally don’t. matt94z had vortec heads on his ls1 in his ss. that ride was sweet. 420 some whp

he was use’n the 5.3 heads that were ported(ithink)…we were actually talkin about the SS tonight…he said it made 429 rwhp and 421 rwtq :boink …and ya i agree roche that ride was bad ass he should have kept it

they where genIII heads

Seen where they did a write up(forget where I seen it) on swapping a 302 into a miata. I always wanted to do it, LS1 is WAY better but a little out of my price range and above my head on the wiring.

I’ve been looking at getting a “play car” maybe I can find a miata in the next few months for a GOOD price… hmmm

Anyway. VERY nice car, looks very clean and I like the rollbar

NICE…

u mean gen III 5.3 heads, they are not known as vortec heads. there are vortec heads already which are gen I heads
