Job for someone with math degree?

I have a friend who graduated from Daemen a few years ago with a BA in Math with a minor in accounting. She has been working at a food quality lab since before she graduated and wants a change. Anyone have any leads?

Thanks!

Gonna have a lot better luck on the accounting side than the math side. Every company has books.

Let’s get a random degree with no career in mind lol

Yea, I’ve had that convo with her 10 years ago, but oh well, right?

I know a Finance Manager with the same degree. As Joe said everyone has books!

What is it she wants to do though? There is always the option of decide what you like, work entry level in that field if necessary and move up or do night school with something more specific to the field she desires.

I’d probably look into maybe payroll jobs or as mentioned accounting of some sort.

My roommate got a Math degree and has an awesome systems engineer job for a GOV contractor in DC area… there are jobs out there.

I don’t know if she has anything too specific in mind, but if anyone has any leads that would be sweet.

Alright…you guys are fucking slacking.

Nudes?

I get that you are trying to do your friend a solid, but this half assed game of telephone to find her a job based on the fact that she has a math degree and no idea what to do is not the solution.

“guys my friend has a degree and is working a job not in that field and wants a change, anyone know of anything she can apply to? she has no real direction nor wants to do the legwork herself, anyone want to give her a job?”

Maybe she could offer a service where she calculates real world fuel costs for various vehicles and prevents people from losing money buying an expensive high MPG hybrid when a traditional gas engine will actually cost less overall?

Tell her to put in a app at Paychex I feel like they are constantly hiring.

I see what you did there lol

not like that at all. she doesn’t even know I’m asking. Just trying to be helpful.

well, with no details other than she has a bachelors in math, I will state that Ingram is nearly always hiring. Looks like nearly 250 open positions right now in the US.

horray teaching!

fixed

And let’s spend $30k/year while we’re at it. It blows my mind that people go to to private schools without a career in mind.

nah, I’ve been down that path. We dated for 2 years or so prob 8-10 years ago now. fml I’m getting old.
