who can seriously sit there and watch nascar? seriously?
what does watchability have to do with making it a sport? Watching the NBA is like banging my head off the wall yet nobody contests that. And the most exciting thing in a nil-nil soccer match is watching the grass grow.
Soccer is def. boring but athlete to athlete, the soccer guys could literally run circles around football “athltes.”
and btw Joe if we want to go with “who’s toughest” football is still way down the list, behind MMA, boxing, kickboxing, strongman, rugby, not necessarily in that order.
WTF are you talking about, i didnt say anything about it not being a sport or even compairing it to basketball or soccer. i said who can seriously sit there and watch this shitty activity called nascar.
k
turn on a race at bristol
anyone who dosent enjoy short track racing needs thier man card revoked and thier drivers license replaced with a bus pass for a bus that only goes to pottery classes and expos
A soccer player is an athlete, that has amazing endurance and footskills
Football players are athletes that soccer players can not match skill wise, physical power etc
An athlete is an athlete no matter what sport, they just all have different skill sets and physical traits.
As for rugby you cannot compare them to football, the only thing they have in common is the level of toughness it takes to play. Rugby’s hitting is nothing like football, footballs endurance is nothing like Rugby’s. Both are great sports but totally different.
I find watching the long tracks to be really boring most of tie time. Martinsville and Bristol are great tho, its short tracks that i can really sit throught and watch the whole race. Even tho, commercials are frustrating.
As for Johnson, I honestly think he shoulda let Martin take the championship.
Why would he do that? People refuse to give him credit against the historical greats even though he’s blowing by all of their records and he has to do what he can to get the recognition he deserves. Mark deserves a championship and if Jimmie didnt win i definitely wanted him to but to be the best, you have to beat the best.
Oops, I worded it wrong, instead of saying “should have”
I meant to say “I wish he would have”
And he deff gets the credit, its a differient kind of credit tho, he gets the “we hate you cause you keep winning everything” type of credit.
Im happy for Johnson but i just wanted to see Martin take it.
nascar is so god damn boring, whenever im at my dads on sundays i go nuts because that shit is on
im not saying its easy, and im not saying what he did isnt a great accomplishment, im just saying that anyone who has a full set of teeth and isnt an alcoholic should not enjoy Nascar
It’s the only alternative after football is over. DVR is key. You pause it for 2 hours when it starts and skip to:
Crashes
Lead changes
Several car wide battles, usually result in crashes
Restarts
Cars blowing up
Last few laps.
Win.
He is definitely underrated as a driver, he has had the least about of media spotlight other than him winning the 4 championships. If Jimmie didnt win it then i was hoping Mark would. Jimmie also is still getting shit after winning 4 because they say O when he wins 7 blah blah blah then they would consider him as the best Nascar driver of all time. It takes alot to win 4 in a row, and hell hes got a good enough team to take a 5th.
He signed till 2013 the other week with lowes, hopefully he brings us home a few more championships.
Jimmie + Chad + Hendrick + Chevy + Lowe’s = damn near unbeatable team.
bump.

Scott Boggins, coordinating producer of 24/7, offers clues about what fans will learn about Johnson and the No. 48 team:• Jimmie has a home life. “We all know the Jimmie Johnson on the track, winning all the races and championships and stuff. You’re going to learn about Jimmie Johnson as the husband and as the son and as the friend. We’re going to capture those moments behind the scenes. He’ll be with his wife, Chandra. They just announced recently that they’ll be parents. I would imagine we’ll learn more about that and be on that journey with them.”
• So does crew chief Chad Knaus. “We’re very familiar with Chad on the track. We’re very familiar with his persona on camera. We know very little about Chad at home and as a person.”
• Race preparation is intense and long. “We’ve done seven boxers on 24/7. Their training camp is anywhere from seven to 10 weeks. There are pockets of really intense focus. What we’ve noticed with Jimmie is the season encompasses the entire year. What’s been remarkable is how Jimmie, Chad and everyone maintain this intensity. … With boxers, there’s a range of preparation. With Jimmie and with Chad, it’s full-out, it’s 100 percent, all the time.”
• There’s more to the Daytona 500 than what occurs on race day. “Hendrick Motorsports has had tremendous success over the last four years, not just the 48 team, but as a whole. But (in early January) they’re up at the crack of dawn looking for speed. They’re not making vast discoveries of speed, they’re looking for fractions of a second. That is what sets them apart. That’s what people are going to be really surprised and really excited to see.”
• There’s more to the 48 team than Jimmie and Chad. “We’ll spend some time with folks on the 48 team, the guys behind the scenes. They’re preparing months and months out. In particular, there are four guys who work on the speedway cars – that’s all they work on. They’ve been working on the Daytona 500 car for many, many months. We’ll capture all of that.”
This is a good video.:burnout:
First episode was pretty good. Found it funny that Chad was saying how JJ is his closest friend and Jimmie basically called him out on that being cause he’s an asshole and probably only has 3 friends that can stand him anyway
yeah, i loved that part. i also liked how he said “90% of people that know me say i am an asshole”
