Because I like Nascar and because Dale Sr. was an icon to a sport that is gaining popularity all over the world.
Dale Sr. will forever be remembered as someone who helped elevate the popularity of the sport of stock car racing and his death sparked several increased safety measures in the NASCAR racing world. His legacy will live on long after the #3 vinyl decals fade away to nothing on peoples back windows.
But I guess like most things if you dont get it or dont like…its cool to make fun of it.

I used to like nascar, and dale he was unwilling to wear the safety equipment it sucks that hes dead. When i liked nascar he was my favorite driver. Nascar does suck however.
Not going to get in an argument because you are cetainly entitled to your feelings.
However the Earnhardt bar in the front windshield and the HANS device have already demonstrated their ability to lessen injuries from hard impacts. Also the soft walls have shown up at more tracks since his passing.
Granted it is very possible his death was his own doing as his harness was usually not as tight as it should have been, but the death of a legend in the sport really made people take notice that it could in fact happen to anyone at anytime.
Indeed it was a sad day, that was the last race I ever watched back when I used to be a fan of it. Though it may have quite a few positive outcomes more towards the future of the sport.
