So I changed employment about 2 months ago. to Seifert car company (1212 abbott rd )
I started working at a used car dealer that had just opened there doors, 6 months ago. had good financial backers seamed solid and offered me a job as auto tech.
I worked there for a few weeks and it seemed like there office/paperwork needed more organizing so i talk with my wife and she started as the office secretary.
we both worked there for a month and a half. I had an engine swap i was completing at home so on the weekend i would load up a good portion of my tools to take home. I worked there Monday-Thursday 9-6, and started bringing in retail costumers who had been using me prior to my employment there.
Last Thursday I packed up to leave and loaded a good portion of my tools as i planed Friday to complete the motor swap then i would be able to bring in ALL of my tools Monday. Sunday night I was loading all of my tools in the car and got a TEXT message from the owner of the company
“your services are no longer required at ******** *** *******”- Steve ******* "
My wife got the same one at the same time.
well i replayed Monday i would be in to gather the rest of my tools. sucks but such is life. (why he TEXTED and didn’t wait to tell me face to face Monday i don’t know)
fast forward to this morning, first thing i drove down there, now I OWN MY OWN “GENISYS” (if you don’t work in car repair its a $5k scan tool for all makes and modals) and i had the case there with all the adapters (over $2k) I leave the tool for the other tech to use on Friday (my day off) so when i got to the shop the other tech helped me load up my tools and whatnot, but to no avail the scan tool its case where missing. I have the battery for it it was charging. some one took it with out the battery…
I went to the owner he told me i took it Thursday I’m just trying to fraud them and told me to leave.
Im going at 5pm tonight to talk to an attorney… this sucks
ya tech’s usually supply there own “BOX”, diagnostic tools are normally owned by the shop, but with it being newer of a place i offered to use mine, there. as i had it seemed redundant to have a shop one.
Ive always worked for myself so i have alot of uncommon tools.
If you have your original receipt (which I’m sure you do for something that expensive) take it to the local police department and file a report. With any documentation that has your personal name on it, it should be pretty straight forward and fast.
ya i have the recite I’m taking that with me to the lawyers office at 5, and if he wants me to file a popo report i will. I thought when the owner threatened me to leave when i was there this morning getting my tools/looking for the genisys, to tell hime go ahead and call the cops. But at that point i figured it wasn’t worth dealing with it, just go to the attorney and figure it out from there.
This especially sucks because you seem like such a stand up guy. You go out and offer the use of your own personal tools and items to help them out and they go and stab you in the back.
I would personally want to destroy this guy, and trust me I’d go out of my way to make sure it happened.
I feel bad that it happened to you, and if I lived at home I’d spend a little of my own time making his life a little hellacious.
