I know I had been talking about getting an Elise for a while, well I pussed out and got a S2k. Traded the G in today and babied the S home, the road I live on is not cleared well. My brother also picked up a new S2k, by picking up two of them in this weather we both got great deals, which is why I did it instead of the elise, if I don’t like it I can trade it in with in a year and it will cost me next to nothing to drive the car. I don’t drive much these days so I think I will be happy with this and have an easier car to live with when I need to use it as a normal car. It worked out to be about $10k less then the elise, that was for an 06 elise with low miles, compared to a new S2k with no miles. Its a dark silver color, and I like a lot of the subtle changes they made, in particular the seats, they have red stitching and no longer have that hole in the head rest and I like the 08 wheels. When it gets a little nicer out I will take some pictures, but in the mean time it looks pretty much like every other S2000 you’ve seen.
My brothers is black and it felt a touch gay buying the same car as my brother, in particular when the salesman addressed us as Mr. and Mr. Timmay 26 miles on her now and still no vtec engagement
You just made that salesman’s month look good! Congrats on the new car! Lotus Elise’s are ok. My buddy has an 05 Elise. Don’t get me wrong it’s a fun car to drive, but it’s a pain in the ass to get out of which is a big downfall to it.
This isn’t my first Honda, before the G I had a 04 TSX 6MT, in many ways the S2000 is very similar, interior materials, shift knob, etc… In terms of driving satisfaction the TSX was more of a drivers car then the G, the G was faster, but I learned a long time ago there is a lot more to a car then speed. No matter how fast you are there is always someone faster, not to mention speed is like a drug, eventually you need more to satisfy the itch. So the “fun to drive factor” is the biggest factor for me, and the TSX was better in that department then the G, the S seems to take it to yet another level.
I was so absent in the local seen because I used to be very busy, now that I have lots of time I’m sure I’ll make it out quite often. Not to mention 4adam12 and I are neighbors so we can roll out representing our communities hondas. Also, the president of Ca-va lives(ed) in this complex and I’ve seen a super clean black mkIII that looks to have a lot done to it here a lot lately, there is a blue B5 S4 not far from the black jetta, I’ve seen a B7 S4 around a lot, the neighbor downstairs has a lot done to a Lightening and closer to Bryan I’ve seen a SUPER clean black scirocco.
I am doing the stereo as soon as its nice out, I have a 4 channel JL audio amp, Alpine head unit(with the adapter/module to retain factory dash controls and ipod cable thing), JL 10" sub in a sealed enclosure in the trunk and 6.5" polk component set up front. The factory system sounds like crap and I have to do something.
If I get bored I will probably do a ricks s2k header and high flow cat with Hondata ECU reflash, comptech adjustable sway bars, Volk CE28n and that’s about it, but all those items are up in the air, they don’t offer much for gains and would cost about $1600 plus $2200 for the wheels(and the 08 wheels are growing on me) Seems kind of steep for maybe 10hp and 15lb-ft of torque, honda has this thing tuned pretty good from the factory, there is very little room for improvement, short of going FI. But right now I’m still getting used to the car and its plenty fun as is, so I may not feel compelled to do anything.
A few times ;D it is a very different car above 6k, honestly, even below VTEC its not bad to drive, not setting any speed records but it has enough low end grunt to make driving around town very manageable. I’ve got about 180 miles on it and it is such a blast to drive :banana
