A) What parts are suggested to replace/build threads for rebuilds
B) Pricing <— Important. I’m going to be pricing everything out, looking for aftermarket parts that altogether will handle 400+ HP and fair amounts of boost.
C) Your personal recommendations
D) Should I spend the money on a tranny rebuild? Buy a new one? Just buy a low km used one?
I’m literally looking at replacing EVERYTHING that goes on a DE, EVERYTHING.
I don’t plan on doing this anytime soon, just slowly buying parts, doing research and planning it out, but I need some good places to start.
I’ve googled for the last hour, but I’ve only found places with shitty threads and only SOME parts.
Thanks ahead of time.
P.S Depending on how this goes, I’m still unsure whether this will be tracked or street driven. Also depends if I find a clean chassis by then, but I’m thinking track.
P.S.S I don’t want to hear “just go SR!” or anything like that, I WANT to do this as a project.
Well I’m looking at buying everything brand new from a supplier, simply because I have a weird tendency like that, I would just feel better (and it’s easier to source). I checked AMS already, but I need somewhere to buy the valves, springs, retainers, camshafts, crankshaft, pulleys, valve cover, oil pan, etc etc.
I mean, I’m going full out EVERYTHING. If I could replace everything that threads, I would. I know I can just buy a rebuilt block or something, but that’s no fun.
I’m also looking for a place to refinish/sandblast my block/valve block so I can price that out as well. I want the entire engine + components (manifolds, lines, hoses, rails, if street driven - emissions, iacv, anything) to be practically brand new. I’m going to be running a gigantic turbo setup when everything is said and done and I want to be able to punch the shit out of it if I want to and feel relatively safe.
If that gives an insight as to what parts are the best for that, I’m not too worried about price (unless its race parts where it’s like $1200 per piston or something stupid like that) as I’ll be buying individually, I’m not pressed on time.
build a n/a ka and seeing as ur gonna b takin ur time grab some extra cylinder heads a practice port and polishing, cause u can’t beat the ka’s torque it’s soo much fun
It won’t be n/a. I’m looking to reach the 350/400HP mark on decent boost with internals being able to handle at least 450+ for extra safety. I like beating the shit out of my engines so I want this thing to be PERFECT.
