that’s not a lack of program knowledge, it’s more my influence as a hardcore drummer coming through into my forray into the rap world. There are very few rap songs with beats that use notse on anything other than straight 1/8 notes…

I guess it’s that way for a reason… It’s not like there is very much original rap music… at least nothing popular.

fruity loops takes a fair amount of effort to freak to the point it sounds good

software production is just…meh to me in general, although i’m sure someone’s gonna hate on me for sayin that. i know a lot of producers use software, so save your breath.
