What is the secret? Last month I douched it out real well with some cleaner and a deck brush and it lasted a week or so but it stinks again. This time with flies/etc. Garbage gets taken out every week. Hose out after each garbage day? what about the stuff that gets thrown out mid week?
probably cause: this one kid that lives here has a bad habit of buying meat then having to throw it out bc it goes bad. I am thinking of telling him to put it in the freezer till sunday night, but that’s not really possible for everything that might get funky in 5 days time.
I always throw chicken leftovers, meat, whatever into a seperate sealed bag… otherwise it stinks like shit. a garbage can is a garbage can, not much you can do about it lol
why doesnt meat-goes-bad kid put the meat in the freezer when he BUYS it and thaw for use as needed instead of being so wasteful of perfectly good food?
I gave up on keeping mine clean during that heat wave. I’d just rinse it out with a little soap each week to wash the maggots out. Hasn’t been bad since the heat finally let up.
I only seem to have to wash mine out once a season. Mine are Buffalo cans with the lid always closed and stored in the shade. It’s garbage from 2 apartments and never seems to smell.
Dude, I have turned this kid around a lot in the past 2 months. You can actually see the floor in his room. One step at a time. He buys a lot of stuff that just gets thrown out. In fact, today I threw out 3/4 loaf of bread and a brand new bag of potatoes because they just sat there unused for 2+ weeks. He is a wreck
Bleach or clorox will make it smell better and kill any bacteria/bugs/maggots… Take a couple lemons and cut them in half then squeeze the juice in the can for lemon freshness haha
We clean ours out every once in a while, my wife does actually. Don’t put things right in the can either that is sure to get you yelled at, I mean, make your can smell.
