CLAIRTON, Pa. – Police from a dozen departments subdued a large street riot involving hundreds of people early Saturday in Clairton, police told WTAE Channel 4 Action News.
Clairton police said officers were called at about 3 a.m. to the intersection of Reed Street and Wylie Avenue for a fight involving about 200 people. Police declared the fight a riot so they could enforce ordinances that would allow them to arrest anybody who refused to clear the street.
It took 11 assisting police departments, two dogs and 25 officers to get it under control. Some officers used pepper spray to subdue some of the people involved.
The riot was finally cleared after about 40 minutes, resulting in the arrests of four people, whose identities were not immediately released.
No injuries were reported, and an investigation continues.
