Know anything about NC? Raleigh? Fayetteville?

Just FYI - I still to this day laugh my ASS OFF about this joke, and have retold it many times. Still loving the triangle though.

Raleigh  been here 4 years now. Boy does time fly.

Visited 3 times and looking for jobs down there. Which reminds me how much headhunters annoy me! Hard to get a interview as a out of state candidate.

lol you dumbass. Fayetteville sucks. Way to aim high.

Glad I stuck around.

Good friend of mine was down there last weekend and is looking for a place in Morrisville. Put his house in Lancaster up for sale a week ago.

Been to raleigh a couple times now. I dont hate it, not sure its for me though.

Need to check out charlotte.

Lived there for three years and yeah Tom, time does Fly. Three moves later I’m back down in Florida though, always knew I would come back I’m by Siesta Key now.

It certainly isn’t for everyone. Charlotte is pretty cool too. I go there a lot since my wife’s sister lives there. We always have fun.

  Where you workin’ these days? I spent some time at RTI for a bit, but I’m doing my own thing for now.

A neighbor of mine told me that he was doing some IT headhunting on the side. I think his usual gig is real estate. If you’re interested I can shoot you his info.

Nice town, ton of new construction going on out that way for sure.

There’s a pretty big car scene there from what I understand.

my aunt and uncle and 2 cousins all moved from Rochester to Raleigh actually Cary about 10 yrs ago… they love it. I have been down to visit them a few times. They did get an accent. From what I have seen cost of living will about equal out. Property last time I checked was cheaper with less taxes but other goods tend to be a little more expensive. MY wife and I are planning on moving down there in about 5 years…the places we have visited have been really nice. Tends to be a lot of mini golf lol

Hey what’s up man. Yeah, make the move. It’s so worth it lol. Tons of tech companies; nerds are in high demand hahaha.

I visited some friends who live in Kure beach a few years ago. Went out in Wilmington, stayed in a place on the beach. It was pretty nice, though I was ready to come home

I’m at Duke. What do you do?

It’s a shame that the coast doesn’t have much development going on. Wilmington is a pretty small little town. The downtown is nice, but you can definitely run out of things to do real quick. I don’t think I’ve been to Kure beach. We usually go to Wrightsville Beach or Carolina Beach.

Moorisville is WAY WAY too cookie-cutter for me. I could never live in those types of neighborhoods, it would drive me nuts. We live in an older neighborhood now and my next place will likely be a bit more country and closer to the lake.

No way, that’s awesome dude. Are you working at the hospital, the school, etc?

I’m trying to finish up a second iOS game at the moment… but misc video editing pays the bills. When I was contracted at RTI I made some assets for a department of defense simulation training program (3dsMax mostly). That stuff is cool and all that, but I’m trying to focus on the game thing now, so technically I own a “lean indie start-up company”. lol

Yeah; I get the whole cookie-cutter thing. That’s been happening a lot around here… I have a pretty funny wilmington story, but I probably shouldn’t share it for fear of scaring ppl off haha…

I’m on the same page as you though FYI. The wife and I were looking at a place in Pittsboro on 10 acres, and like 2 minutes from the water. We’re not boat/camping ppl or anything but we’re thinking about trying to be at some point. Pittsboro has some of the best land around at this point IMHO. I recently heard that the head of a… relatively well known game company… which I won’t mention by name… was buying up a ton of land there. I mean it’s pretty central to the area, and you can get a few untouched acres that won’t completely break the bank like it would in chapel hill. They have a couple of those weaver street market stores and all that around there too; which is cool.

yea my uncle is in charge of the business networking dept. or something of that nature at IBM…he said he would gladly help me out when we decide to move…

i dont mind the cookie cutter…template neighborhoods…as long as they are well built

I’m with the health systems, doing IT Security. Sounds like fun work you do.

Yeah, Pittsboro is nice, but I think it’s too far from Raleigh for me. I’m thinking north of 540 in raleigh, between 540 and Falls Lake somwhere. That’s a 5 year plan at this point.

Sure it couldn’t hurt to talk to him.

I applied to a Storage Engineer job at Duke, never heard anything back :frowning: seemed like a sweet gig and place to work at.

My friend works at Redhat, he was working AKC. My other friend works through a contracting group for the DoD.

Both just bought houses, one built and the other bought in Southwest Raleigh area. Housing actually can cost a bit more there depending on your requirements but taxes are dirt cheap there. Wake county is actually “expensive”

Should have let me know. Could have gotten the resume some attention. If you find anything else at duke let me know and I’ll try and help out.

If i see another gig there, I will shoot you a PM. Never realized you worked there.

Hey just FYI - he finally got back to me today and said he’s not doing IT staffing anymore I guess. Sorry about that.
