KO'd by Ford Taurus. Please help!

My '91 240sx was written off last week by a left-turning ford taurus. So now i have to haggle with insurance companies to get the full valus of my car back. A lot of work went into the car and now i have to prove my car’s worth . I’ve got receipts for all the major work, but I was wondering if I could get help because i have to find:

A) Advertisements for HIGH priced 240’s, and
B) A value for my car. How much would a 240 sell for if it were advertised as having:

Custom paint (Daytona Blue), FULLY restored (3 months ago), no rust, pw, pl, pm, power antenna, super hicas, sunroof, standard, 217,000kms, RWD, custom exhaust (2.5"cat back, silencer, ractive dual tip muffler),keyless entry, alarm, stereo (900Watt Fosgate amp, Kenwood MP3/CD/Sirius, Fosgate speakers, 2-10"JBL subs), maint. records, lady-driven, new pads, rotors and calipers for ALL brakes, new fuel pump, new master cyl., new starter, new batt.,new belts, new pw reg., new winter tires (Ultra-Grip), and summer tires.

LOL, it also has int. wipers, new wiper blades, rear defrost., “custom” block heater , oil pan gasket, valve cover gasket, new silverstar head lights, NISMO seatbelt straps, and “super-custom” cup holder (remove ash tray or open mid. console for “super -size”).

They arent going to give you any money for your removable mods like stereo and seat belt pads. Just look through canadatrader.com and print off ads from all over the coutry. Make sure you print off some mid-range price ones too, so it doesnt seem like you are just printing off the very expensive ones.

What do you mean by “fully restored”

Has the vehicle been apraised for value/damage yet?

When they give you their first offer on what they will give you for your car dont take it. Ask for more, they will give it to you. Especially if you might have an injury.

By the sounds of it, you should be buying the car back to sell for parts, if you have the time.

i just had my 91 240sx appraised for value by my insurance company, and they said book value is 4000 , so you better have good luck my friend, they appraised mine at over 6000 though , but i only have 160000kms, and original paint and mint everything, interior and exterior. oh yeah funny thing is my car is getting painted daytona blue pearl in february. 350z blue rules. hope to get 6000 at the most my friend.

Try to get the highest price possible and then buy back the wrecked car for a much lower price.

Fully restored meaning all the rust was taken out of the car. New rockers welded on, new wheel wells, dents taken out, no more scratches, and holes in hatch and floor fixed. Also added rust proofing/ undercoating.

Car hasn’t been fully appraised yet. The insurance companies are waiting for me to send out my 22 pages of receipts for work i put into the car.

I want to buy the car back ( if they let me buy it back) and get another 240. I plan to use the parts i need in the new car i buy, then sell all the extra parts i don’t need.

The insurance company has to give you the option to buy the car back. You should be able to get a decent amount since you have proof of all your money spent.

you have to remember the car would be worth nothing with all the rust so , you doing that work won’t help you get a higher price if you ask me, it just brings the car back to it’s original value. either way you’ll need good luck, insurance companies are assholes.
