L47/Aurora 4.0L powered Fiero.

I fucking love this thing.

Headlights work great:

…and this was in fourth gear. The peak recall function on these gauges is pretty awesome.

I started this thing Friday morning with about 45 miles on the odometer. It’s got a few more now. About 500 is clutch broken-in territory.

I’m thinking it should get a tune. Even a baseline N/A tune for now. Runs great, but I bet it could be better. Who would be willing to tune this thing, maybe New Era? Anybody that can tune an LS should be able to tune it, really. My buddy already called Kennedy and they apparently aren’t interested.

@turbociv

I heard/saw you on 179 yesterday afternoon, thing looks and sounds great!

Hah, yea…I was on there a few times yesterday. Was it around 6P? I was on my way up to my buddy’s place in Alden. It’s amazing to be able to just drive it. It’s been my daily since Friday, and I don’t intend to put it away this week. Everything seems to work great. Handling, brakes, the engine. It’s not even as ridiculously low as it looks. I mean, it is…but I was able to take it off of my driveway, into the yard and back up onto the driveway to park it because my neighbor is moving out and he was blocking the entire lot. Didn’t scrape or have any trouble getting up and over, onto the asphalt. Neat.

Love that night shot from behind! Kinda don’t want you to put a hood on it

Me too.

I don’t either. I’ve got some ~16G sheet aluminum lying around. I’ve thought about just making an air filter cover so that doesn’t get soaked if it rains. Really, everything else is sealed or waterproofed. I used Weatherpak connectors everywhere and the harness is all OEM connectors with shrink wrap where needed. Rained on it on Saturday morning and it didn’t complain.

Tachometer comes back tomorrow, so hopefully I’ll be done with gauge stuff for a bit. Wideband seems to read 18:1+ almost all of the time, which I know is false. I think the sensor is just shot. These Bosch sensors are pretty fragile, it seems.

All in all, I’m very happy with it so far. Over 300 miles on her, now.

It does look cool in the shot from behind without the hood, but, IMHO it looks unfinished without a hood.

That’s kind of what I’m fighting with now. It really needs the sail windows to be installed and a decklid to be ‘finished’, but then; it’s really not quite there yet. It does run and drive, but it’s the finishing touches that it needs, now. I’ve got another week of vacation coming up this month, so maybe I can get some of that stuff done during it. I need to replace one of my front side markers, too. Somehow it was shattered and half of the pieces are missing. Strange, indeed.

Needs a turbo.

Love this thing! Only thing I would do (personally) is paint it some crazy fucking color.

Thanks! Me too.

I was thinking about some thermochromic pigment powder with a temperature change setting of around 65°F, so in the sun on a normal day, the thermochromic layer would be clear revealing the paint beneath. Then, when I hit it with a hose or something you get the color of the thermochromic layer. You mix the powder into a paint clear coat or even clear Plastidip and spray it over your normal paint job. I’m attracted to the idea of Plastidip because I could [theoretically] replace it every year or two pretty cheaply and I could do something different every time.

A more modern color does really help the look I think:

Remember too, if you paint it, I don’t think you will butttttt don’t half ass it. Engine bay, door jambs, etc.

Hah. Been a while since I’ve seen Kolja’s car and his mega hot wife. I don’t go on PFF much anymore.

Yea, if I do paint it, I’d do it right. I’ve thrown around a few ideas over the past few years, but nothing has really stuck. My buddy wants to spend a day with a DA and some compound and see how far gone it really is. It’s really just some bad sun fading from sitting outside for a few years, but the paint really is in pretty decent shape. Not really in any rush to do anything with it. Maybe this winter/spring? I’ve got a few things planned for this mechanically and I’d also like to get a start on my '73 Triumph Bonneville. That should be fun, too.

355 replica front bumper?

Pretty popular Fiero owner thing. I mean, I guess that’s cool, but I’m good with the factory bumper. I’ve really only even seen one front bumper I cared for [not OEM] and it was hand built from fiberglass starting with an Accord piece of all things. I’ll see if I can dig up a few pictures of that.

Oh, and I drove by Swannie house on my way home and floored it around the corner to put on a show for the honies sitting outside. Swung around beautifully and left a little tire smoke. I could just see the panties dropping. Magical.

Anyway, I’m heading over tomorrow after work so I can get the tach back in and hopefully at least start fabbing up an ECM cover out of 16G mild steel or aluminum. Likely the steel due to lack of decent aluminum welding skills. Though, I guess you need to practice somehow right? I really need a welding table.

That chick def used to be a dude. Look at those calf muscles!

^ LOL… Can’t unsee

That broad is for sure a tranny…

any my videos? (not of the tranny)

I think it looks best the gold color. That yellow one looks like dick.
