Lancaster to stay open with big changes.

i wish there was something closer to me nyi or lancaster is about 1 1/2 hour drive for me about 70 miles :gotme: but sounds like it will be nice to see money get put into the track

I can just see bracket racing in the new “MOD” class. Street car leaves with his 11.80 dial, whils his opponent (Heavy) is sitting there bored to shit with his finger on the tranny brake with his 7.50 dial. At least the fast guy will be going off of a clean tree.

1/4 mile that isnt 60 miles away would be soo nice, i hate driving out to NYIRP… its always such a cold ride back at night…

I’m glad we don’t have a close 1/4 mile track…It would make me try really dumb things with my car…175shot etc etc

For years Vito has been trying to buy nyirp. My dad talked to Vito and he said he was going to make it a members only type deal but who knows.

Sure way to make a track go bankrupt.

Ill believe it all when I see it

True that, but isn’t it nice to know that if something bad happens, you are like 10-15 minutes from home? I always feel more comfortable at Lancaster simply because of the proximity.

I guess if you slam into the wall at 125 mph i would feel better that i am closer to home.LOL.No i really like it being close.I have no problem at all with it being an 1/8 mile. Also about it being run down,Its a race track not 5 star hotel.I can see if they make it real nice everybody will complain when the entrence fee go’s up.Hell its got everything i need there,A pisser, food, and a track to race on.

                                        :word:

I used to race on occasion at Lancaster.

Then the monotony hit me and I started closing my eyes when I’d race, made it a little better.

Even if lancaster stayed 1/8th mile they should still make it longer for those fast cars that cant stop. 2 years ago my dad went off into the end. That was the last time her ran at lancaster but it was the fastest 1/8 time he had. 5.03@149 isnt bad for a car that weighs 3500lbs.

Figure the difference between 1/8 & 1/4 is about 4 seconds and 25 MPH. Not really all that much when you put it that way.

i know at that speed this probably isnt the case… but… the guy was telling me last time i was there people were racing way past the 1/8th mark then slamming on their brakes rather than slowing down after the 1/8th.
fyi the 1/8th ends a good amount b4 the time board people usually race till they get to that which is past the 1/8th mile mark

I did the same thing, then I realized that it ended way before and I’m like ohhh haha. The back roads still suck balls though.

I didn’t know that. I must have missed the big marker on the track or walls that signals the end of the track… oh wait

yeah the 1/8th ends well before, if you have good view of it, you can usually check out the time before you cross the board.

At least the modifieds will be back! damn i missed them.

it is BS though that there running it everyother sat. what kinda season is that :frowning:

Modifieds will be back? i heard they wont be? hmm…

And Lancaster will NEVER be a 1/4 mile track, that is BS. Lascaster residents already wanna shut the place down due to noise levels, theres no way they will let them expand.

I’m on the fence with the class joining. There are a ton of people in my classes already Pro & Heavy. And it will make it much harder, to win i’ll have to go 6/7 rounds as it is, now its gonna be more like 12 haha. yikes! It is very difficult for fast cars 6+ seconds in the 1/8th to sit on the line watching a 12/13 secodn street car just about cross the finish line b4 you even take off. On the other hand if your good and cut a good light, u pass them so stupid fast at the end its great! 30-40 mph flyby FTW!

I was saying the same thing in my post. It sucks bad when the 2 cars lined up are so far apart in ET. The 40mph flyby is cool and all, but it is extremely difficult to judge if you need to tap the brakes or not at the end, or just run it out. When you are running side by side, it’s easy to see if you’ve got the other guy covered, and you can make your adjustments without guessing. Also, I will say this…if you combine Heavy and Street, there will not be a true “Street” car winner ever. The regular heavy class cars all cut .500-.525 lights, and their cars are very well set up. If you think you are going to show up in your DD Pontiac G6 and take them out, you are just pissing your money away. You might get lucky here and there, but you ain’t gonna go 12 rounds with them.
