LAST Dunnville day of the season NEXT SUNDAY

Did ayone get a pic of my bumper on fire? Good day all in all, thanks Dip.

Good times indeed. Fun course, I wish I had come out other times - next year for sure. Not so fun was my wiring harness getting melted together, and fuses blowing. Nor was having a 5" hole blow in my muffler, WTF??? Oh well, thanks to everyone who helped my get my car back on the road.
And thanks for letting us drift Derek. (Tandems with Chris can be scary   )

Leo.

yea, about that drifting…
apparently a few people wernt happy about that
so next season i will have to do sections.
you guys go out for 15 then sweep up your shit for 5 and then i let the grip guys out.

maybe we can have a drift only day even if it’s just once?

doable.
we can change up the track config for that too

the grip layout was amazing for drift in my opinion. 2nd and 3rd gear corners, and some good links you can do if your go fast enough…

See, I told you Derek, grippers are whiners.

hehe jokes man. well sorta…

I really hope your serious about a beater day!

hey hey hey I am a gripper… I don’t whine much :stuck_out_tongue:

I thought the day went well. while I am not a drifter I do respect the driving still it takes to do it. I have no problem with drfters at all. hey we all have had off track experiences and as long as you take responsability to clean up the mess you made it’s all good…

the only problem I have is people passing with out being signaled to do so and I seen and instance of a BMW passing someone in a courner without being signaled to pass… very dangerous. espesically when the guy being passed was on the raceline and the other car was trying to cut in and had no idea the BMW was trying to pass…
also there were a few people who were not letting the faster cars pass and or not waving them by… but most were great waving the faster guys by.

to me these are basic track etiquette which also keep the event safe. I am sure no body wants to see anyone damage there car and/or anyone elses car or anyone get hurt.

I just think a drivers meeting before the event to go over all the rules and track etiquette would benifit all and help avoid conflics during the event… hey if need be I would do the track meeting ( if derek wants, I have talked to derek about this already)
anyway not trying to step on anyones toes just trying to help…

also if there is a drift only event I wouldn’t mind going also… would like to learn how to drift… maybe I could sit shotgun to help learn

next year will be run differently.
manditory drivers meetings and what not.

im also thinking of running a once a month drift series and i already talked to a few companies that would sponsor an over all prize deal at the end.

let me know if you guys are intersted

Oh yeah another beef I had was the Yellow caution flags. What is the policy there???

If the flag man is only at one position (near entrance) then if he is waving the yellow there should be no passing or even no hot laps till he drops it. It can’t be local yellow cause there is one flag - there may be multiple cautions (ie spin-out plus a spill)

I ran cool down during yellows and some heros were all horny to blaze past the GT-R without being pointed-by.

WTF?

Careful Derek, you mention something like this to the drift community and it’ll spread like wildfire

(I’m sure I can speak for everyone here by saying “hell yes”.)

Leo you read my mind bro! I agree and think it’s an awsome idea.

i will be doing it.
im just goin over final figures and what not with sponsors and the tracks.
there will be a entire season points standing type deal.
with a buy in at the begining.

Oh snap!!! so it wuz u guys there at the track!!! I wuz driving the black toyota paseo!!! Damn, I should’ve walked up to talk to u guys!!! My bad!

Oh I meant to add that I was just venting and the track or drivers are professionals out having some fun. I just wanted clarification on local yellow or course yellow. Rules are simple: don’t pass unless pointed by at all times.

I’m hyped for the Winter Challenge Cup - I’m running Pirelli…snows :frowning:

Figured I’d toss my $0.02 in here (is that 0.04 for you Canadian guys? just kidding!) since I’ve also done a few days at Dunnville (along with a bunch of tracks in the US). For a track that small, I honestly do NOT have problems with a centralized flagging location. Obviously more people to flag would be nice, but part of the charm/fun of Dunnville is the laid back atmosphere opposed to PCA/BMWCCA/NASA events which can often be a bit overwhelming for people. A yellow flag, like stated above cannot be centralized, it’s a full course yellow, I think the addition of another yellow flag at the main station would probably be a good idea. Single Yellow = procede at speed but use caution, Double yellow = slow down use extreme caution. The passing without a point by/in a corner was something I through an absolute fit about last time I was there with some guys from Buffalo NY. We had some hotshot there last time in a focus who had done “A few track days” and was passing people inside/outside/braking zones, etc, etc. I was helping someone learn the line in another car when he went around me on the inside, overtook an e30 in a braking zone, and went around a 300zx on the outside of the final turn, all under caution. I had words with him after that and he proceeded to try and catch me on every little rule infraction he could think of the rest of the day. Annoying to say the least. A driver’s meeting with clear ground rules is definitely a must. Passing without a point by should be banned, IMO. Dunnville just isnt large enough and the skill level is to varied for it to be done safetly. Anyway, just figured I’d point a few of things I’ve noticed at a few of the days I’ve been at Dunnville. Dip, I definitely plan on attending a few of your events this coming season, mostly grip driving for me though. I love Dunnville, it’s a great test and tune track where I dont have to worry about a huge blue wall of armco. Hope these comments/suggestions are helpful.

Good post… having been to dunnville once I would agree that the skill/experience levels there are much too varied to allow for passing in braking zones, inside/outside or corners, etc.
