I’m tossing around the idea in the next few months of making a purchase on a bigger tv for my living room. I’d like anything between 55"-60". I’ve been doing a little research on them but don’t know a whole lot. I’m looking at one of the LG models right now. Wasn’t sure if anyone else may know a little more or even own one yet.
LED TV’s are VERY new technology. Most people won’t have them just yet. I’ve heard great things about them though.
I think LG and Sony are the only ones that make them, last I knew. Sony was the first I believe.
uncle has a sony, totally awesome tv
LED TV’s are awsome. Picture is crisp, blacks are black white are white… Very accurate looking display.
That being said unless your a serious video-phile your not going to care. The only big advantage I can see to an LED TV is that the backlight will virtualy last forever and that its much smaller and lighter.
What most people don’t seem to realize off the bat is that an LED TV is a standard LCD TV, the only difference being how the light is projected thru the LCD panel. In a traditional LCD that use florencent lamps to bring light into the display. Where as LED TV’s use LED’s to project light thru the display, the big advantage being a much smoother light emmsion thru the panel, but like I said unless your a huge video-phile your nto going to care.
If you want the newest coolest display get an LED TV. If you don’t want to spend a ton of money and dont care how if the TV is 2-3 inches thick get a traditional LCD or Plasma TV.
If size isnt to much of an issue get a DLP TV. A quality DLP TV will prodeuce just as good an image as an LCD TV as well its basicly the same thing except light is projecting thru a smaller size LCD display and being magnified and relected onto a big screen.
DLP tv’s are extremely cheap right now and now I belive only a few manufacturers are making them. If you want a nice HDTV on the cheap than a DLP is the way to go.
If you want a flat panel Plasmas are deffinatly better than they used to be and well they are comming down in price as well.
LCD TV’s are getting even better and cheaper. Plasma’s used to be the way to go if you watched a lot of action movies/sports as they seemed to prodeuce clearer images in moving/fast action scenes where LCD’s would seem to trail a little bit
It all depends on what your willing to spend.
Dont be afraid of house brands either like Vizio, Insignia, Westinghouse etc… people are afraid that because their cheaper there quality is not as good, while unless its some really odd chinese brand no one has heard of that probably the case but those house brands when calibrated right will look just as good as any tv to the normal viewer.
Look up reviews, most store TV’s also dont show an accurate or the clearest picture because most places arent going to go around and calibrate every single TV, and most of them have the brightness and contrast maxed out along with the color spiked up a little bit.
DLP’s suck balls
I got a SamSung 61’ DLP slimline that is my choice over the Plasma,LCD or LED Awesome TV great Picture and Quality all the way around.
I’m rockin the 61" Samsung DLP and it’s pretty awesome. The best part is that it only weighs like 60lbs and it looks great!
you got the slimline then? I also use mine as my computer monitor :lol
