All these gimmicks chrysler has, why don’t they come up with a Better Vehicle instead
wow thats awesome !! that will definately screw them over ! i almost wanna buy a dodge… puke … but lifetime warrenty on a beater car + cheap gas for 3 years = win !!! but im sure there are only like 2 gas stations that participate.
Assuming a sticker of 23 mpg, and $4.00 per gallon, the 12,000 mile limit per year costs them $522, so this is equivalent to a $1500 rebate on the vehicle. Obviously higher gas prices and different fuel economy ratings would yield different results. $5/gal would be like a $3000 rebate.
Repair costs on a Dakota would eat that up in no time.
Interesting gamble. They likely have insider information about the price of oil…or incredibly good insight.
Makes me want to buy now… Lifetime warranty, $2.99 gas for 3 years, even if I sell the car. Nice.
sux they dont include srt models…
srt models don’t get included with any of their offers. not even chrysler employees can get srt models at discount.
I dunno…girlfriend and I drove a Dodge Journey last night…it’s not so bad…
Like the sharp illumination of a lighthouse in the fog, Jeff cuts through the bullshit, to bring Pittspeed truth.
I think like Jeff said, even with $5 gas, it’s not that much of a rebate.
Chrysler could also be investing in oil futures to hedge against certain disaster. That way if prices go too high, they make money to offset the rebates, making it a zero sum game on the oil trade, but helping them to sell a bunch of cars to scared little children in the process.
But seriously, let’s not rule out insider info, we’re talking about Detroit and American big oil here. Backroom deals aren’t something that should surprise us.
They just had $2000 rebates on the calibers and patriots. They reduced them to $500 and kicked in this program instead. Won’t really cost much(if any) more than before, but it’s clever marketing.
As to “better cars”, i dunno, my 2001 PT was trouble free for the 6 years i owned it, never had to repair anything other than wear items. My 2004 Stratus was the same way, plus with the V6 i averaged 26MPG. Never had anything go wrong with it. My 07 so far has been problem free and runs great.
how was it? I seen one and it looked pretty cool, is it dodge’s replacement for the durango?
No, it’s a crossover, car based SUV. Based on the Avenger. Can’t tow like a Durango.
