*** LIDAR Speeding Tickets ***

The news just had a story that tickets given out by the Pittsburgh Police using LIDAR are not valid. It is not an approved device in PA.

If you have a current ticket, you are supposed to request a hearing, and the ticket will be dropped.

If you already paid a fine, you are supposed to send a copy to the Chief of Police, who will forward it to traffic court.

Same if you have points on your license. Send a copy and they will send a letter to you for your insurance company.

Is that the device that uses a Laser to your car and it gives the cops a signal of your speed… If not i just got nailed by that device of the weekend

from what i undestand it was only being used by the city of pittsburgh motorcycle police

Actually, it was Pittsburgh using only LIDAR that invalidated the tickets. Only PSP can use RADAR or LIDAR as a speed-measuring device. They would have to have clocked with VASCAR or the new IR device.

wow wish this would of happened when i had that 437 dollar ticket …

Holy hell! What was that one for?

I just got a ticket, and the “other” box is checked where it asks what form did the officer use. I dont know if that means lidar or not, because it doesnt actually say lidar on it. What do you think it was?

This issue was only with the Pittsburgh Police, and they have stopped using it.

As far as yours, what are the possible boxes they could have checked?

Radar, ESP, Clocked, Vascar, A.O.V, Other. those are the 6 boxes, other being the one that was checked

any more details on this? how does it measure speed?
