I've been searching for a good shop to do my alignment. I thought I had found one, but it turns out they don't really know what they are doing. My car is aligned, but apparantly they didnt' set the caster to what I need it at. My wheels are hitting on front not letting me turn them past 3/4 of the way. I can drive the car, just have to drive like a grandma. Plus, for various reasons.. I don't want to take it back to these people.
Is there anyone near the Pittsburgh area that can do custom alignments and not empty my wallet? I just really need the front end caster fixed and of course the toe after that and a readout. I'm from Latrobe, PA.
your aster settings are not made to be used to keep your wheel from hitting the innerfenders…you could seriously throw your car out of wack trying to move your wheel an 1/2"+ back in the wheel well. you might want to research alignments and how one component affects another!
Dude, I already have researched. The previous shop didnt’ set it to the specs that are well documented to work. I have owned this car for 12 years. If the caster is correct, the wheels would not be hitting. I had my entire front suspension apart a few months ago and my front was WAY out of wack when I put it back together. A few others with the same wheels/tire size and offset all are telling me I need to get my caster corrected and they are the most respected people in the MR2 MK1 community. I know I shouldn’t alter the suspension just so that wheels will clear… thats not the way it should work, I know but these wheels should be fitting.
I have no personal experience with these, but I suppose it’s something to look into/ask around about.
Gearhead on Route 51 in West Mifflin was advertising for alignments for “lowered cars and raised trucks!”
And Pep Boys in Monroeville was the only (local to White Oak) place that could properly align my friend 2" lowered Talon AWD. Apparently one of the guys there did the alignments for Speed of Sound before they closed or some such shit.
